Just discovered the most epic musical find I've ever discovered this year and probably of all time in a TV show or movie.
Netflix's RIPLEY just exposed me to this immortal song — "Il Cielo In Una Stanza" by Mina Mazzini.... It's a beautiful work of art. She released the song in 1960 and I just can't keep the song out of my head.

This song just spoke to my soul and I want to fall deeply in love so badly. 😘 And yet feel lonely all the same.
Almost shed a tear or two at such perfection. The violin and the other musical instruments used just created a perfect symphony.
I don't understand a word she's saying but I felt I perfectly subconsciously understood within me what she's saying..... A huge profession of love.
What a MASTERPIECE. Just shows how good music breaks language barriers and endears people of all races. Perfect beauty. The singer was a beautiful lady in her time too.

Guess I have a new artist to immerse myself in this week since the last two weeks I've been consuming foreign African sounds and language I don't even understand.


RIPLEY, u do this one..... Only this song alone na +2.5 marks you don collect. The performer of the song in the show did a beautiful job and she's weirdly a lookalike of the original singer. I fell in love with the performer as soon as I saw that performance. No wonder even Tom Ripley with his heart that has no feelings was still astonished and brought to mesmerize the beauty of Mina's voice. A psychopath was brought to standstill. Omo...


Just spent 45 mins listening to the song. Searching YouTube for the videos, watched and rewatched different versions of it...even her live performance of the song on different occasions. I'm obsessed!!

Lol, I thought I was the only one who felt it was underwhelming when I saw that on Twitter. 40mn views in how many weeks on 4 episodes already is premium underwhelming for a show that costs over $500mn to produce. It's not even the number one show overall on the service or even top 2. The game between number 1 and 5 can be really wide especially since they didn't give metrics and info on which shows are in the top 5 asides ROP and their views.


Rings of Power wey just dey flop dey go. HOTD regularly gets 9-10mn views per episode in a day in the US alone.

It's just a way of Amazon reminding people the show still exists. Cos the way the show is forgotten about as soon as it premieres is wild. No one even talks about it till the end of the week when another episode drops. Barely even trends beyond the first 36hrs of release. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Lol, it's not forgettable but I can't remember a single name of any character in Blue Eye Samurai... Something I just watched few months ago.
Let me tell if you don't know, plot is the easiest to remember in any movie or TV show.
If one is struggling to remember a single name of a character, not even the protagonist in an 8 episodes long TV show, I don't think you're THAT "memorable". And it's not about the names not being English bruv. I consume way more foreign language content from different languages ranging from Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, French, Yoruba, etc more than the average audience.
I can easily mention up to 7-10 characters in Vinland Saga, a Japanese anime but I'm struggling to even mention the protagonist of Blue Eye Samurai — something I watched months ago. How the fvvk is that not forgettable? If its over a year ago and more its understandable.

There's tons of movies or TV shows I've put on my watchlist or downloaded that I haven't even watched yet but I know what the story or plot is about.

About Tik Tok, I don't use the app. So I can't say the tons of hype and discourse I see regularly on Arcane is even from the platform. I'm not even a League of Legends fan or a hardcore gamer to begin with.

You also said you saw "thousands" of negative videos about Arcane.... surely it won't be that hard to find ain't it??

For me it's a premium watch. An entertaining and memorable experience. The storytelling is peak fiction as well as the action. Best in class animation design as well as an unbeatable music score to boot.
Deep characters, incredible dialogue and great level of politics.
It is centred on two sisters and the hand they're dealt with but it also has a good class war undertone; the elite vs the poor. It's also dark and m@ture.
I think I gave it a 9/10 or 10/10 back then.

It was because the season one didn't impress lots of people which is understandable, so not many of those season one viewers are interested in this season 2, however this season 2 has been better than season 1 for those who have decided to be faithful to the series and with time viewership will only get better.

You know the hype, anticipation people had for the first few episodes of season one will always bring more views in the sense that people were like excited to see what they had to offer.
This is why the first and last episodes of any series seems to record more views.

It's actually 65 countries. I just round up the number.

Well, you can blame Max slow roll out. They have many distribution agreements in many regions globally that they can't release Max there until the deal elapses. Although, for some, WBD ain't too bothered about a fast rollout eg Africa and Middle East, parts of South East Asia. They're okay with licensing only HBO content and keeping the cash from the deal.

They're not even available in UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland (some of the biggest markets) and a few others cos of the Sky Europe deal. They just got available in France and Poland just this May/June. The Sky deal elapses end of 2025. So there's gonna be a bigger roll out in most of Europe in 2026.

Max has shelved plans to launch in India in the nearest future and instead do licensing deals for HBO content cos there's hardly any profitability in that region.

They were gunning for a faster rollout across the major markets but the Discovery merger with WB slowed things down with Zaslav focusing on profitability rather than subscriber count. And it seems to have worked for them. They're the only profitable streaming business in the world asides Netflix. Disney+ just gained profitability this last quarter despite starting before HBOMax and having over 130mn subs. Max is still way more profitable than Disney plus with an almost double Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

HBO distribution is in the hands of DStv in Africa. I don't see them having plans for here till like 2027-28 sef if not till 2030.

They have mostly focused their eyes on parts of Europe and almost all of Latin America and the US. Canada and Australia no get Max sef.

It's a gradual process for them but profitability above subscriber count. But by 2027 they would have rolled out in most of the major markets worldwide.

I haven't seen Onimusha but I've seen Blue Eye Samurai.

I prefer Blue Eye Samurai to Arcane...doesn't mean it was better but I cared more about it's plot and characters. It also had a lot of noticeable flaws I posted in my review of it.

Generally I wasn't much of a fan of Arcane. I got a lot of people hyping it up to be the best show ever but for me it just felt like a decent show.

I'll rewatch it in November so my opinion on it might change then...

I didn't connect at all to the world and most of its characters except the sisters....
I didn't like any of the other characters and didn't find them interesting at all...

The music was good but it wasn't my taste because I watched it at a time when I was done with League of Legends theme songs and the music in the show fit right in with the usual LOL songs

The animation style felt similar to Spiderverse animation which I also didn't like at all.

So basically the show had many things that were subjectively not to my taste at all...it's no surprise I didn't like it much...

However the show is very highly rated and I'm willing to give it another chance...

So I think you should definitely check it out.

Or wait till November so you can watch both seasons at once and not forget the plot of season 1 when season 2 airs
