The only reason why people are remembering this is simply because Nigeria failed and it failed because of the mentality of the Northern ruling class!

South Sudan and Sudan are not fighting themselves. It's Sudan that's fighting civil war. South Sudan has been relatively peaceful in recent years.

Eritrea is suffering from drought and famine, and not from fighting with Ethiopia
your on point

cheesy

What i can deduce from this is that those groups involved in the amalgamation were the most organized and highly structured groups around then

So these guys had Rulers, prolly high chiefs and clan leaders at far back as 100years ago

Those that werent called up were nothing close to civilization and prolly didnt even have Representatives that are literate enough to explain this to them

Wow. Civilization in the 1900s

cc. Confusedlady. We had another chance in 1960 but Zik blew that one
They weren't the most organised; they were the easily influenced tribes. I don't think any Nigerian city was as organised as the Benin Kingdom. And the Oba of Benin wasn't on that list. Benin Kingdom fought the British to a standstill.

Also, the British found that the Igbos were republican - nobody was making decisions for all. Major decisions were brought forward and discussed in gatherings.

There was no way those two would have made the list.

It is high time.

I noticed no SE rep among the 6. That's bad. These Brits sef.

But how come Zik refused to agree the secession clause as widely passed down in history? Or was that hearsay? Everyone for don dey dia dey by now. But Nigeria itself is complicated. The Economic boom in the 70s created the foundations of the political corruption we see today when thousands of cargo ships filled with cement docked at Nigerian ports because of Infrastructural projects that year.

The problem is the criminal elite holding the country to ransom are not prepared to agree to the bolded! They have a cunning way of constantly yapping about restructuring without ever getting round to doing it! They have found a way to get naive Nigerians to constantly and endlessly blow empty grammar about restructuring while they continue to eat fat and steal money that even their unborn tenth generations wouldn't be able to finish! Only the threat of disintegration would make them sit up and take notice!
yes those elite politicians from all the regions of nigeria are the ones that don't want restructuring they want to continue eating fat on the oil resources while leaving other sectors of the economy unexploited and making some states to be lazy depending from the federal government for their survival, I think it is a time that we will start talking about this issue seriously.

Nigeria has done very well

It is lack of respect for Law, Corruption and Poverty that now need to be eradicated

And why not!? Are you infering that the black 'nigger' is incapable of ruling himself and has to depend on some colonial construct fashioned more than a century ago that was primarily intended to keep him in perpetual bondage!?

You sell yourslef short both as a individual and as a race!
Nope

Cant nigerians make nigeria beta 4 one another?

Thats d question

That contract expired in 2014! Technically, Nigeria is non-existent!

Any Self-Determination groups know their inalienable rights!

Lol it wasn't an hearsay sir. One of the original documents was recently shared here on Nairaland where Zik himself boasted about how he frustrated Awolowo's attempt at including cessation clause in our constitution.

Zik and his people probably thought the Igbos' domination of Nigeria of the 1940s and 1950s will last forever.

So what? After all that years Naigeeria seem to have detoriated badly.

Just about 70 years ago Naigeerians were automatically british citizen, my grand father travelled to England on vacation from (Naigeeria british territory) with a british ID card as a british citizen.

Now, in 2024 Naigeerians are classed as illegal immigrants in England.. I wonder why? undecided

The Zimbabweans can drive with their Zimbabwean drivers license in the UK, change it to a UK license after 2 years automatically without no driving test or driving lessons. Therefore the Zimbabwean drivers license are as good as UK license. How come do Naigeerians not have the same priviledged?

Naigeeria is doomed! to fail from the start after independent.

How come the British are so powerful centuries ago? Not only powerful but influential to dictate and decide many things? How they are able to conquered many kingdoms and put them under their rulership.

With the Indian population they were able to control them, and also scattered them as they want. The same thing they did here in Nigeria.
They were able to achieve that with the help if their guns and religious books. Those too Still remains the most potent tools when it comes to human enslavement.

Dude, carry your pessimism and inferiority complex and get lost! Nigerias' major problem is that it has been captured by a criminal hegemonic establishment that has held the country by the jugular and by the balls right from the 60s to date! Poverty, tribalism and religion have been weaponised and deployed to keep the people enslaved and ensure the continued tortured existence of the 'ATM' that enriches the criminal elite and their immediate family and associates!

Nigeria needs a hard reset so power can return back to the people!
I laugh in Swahili at the delusion. The people are the problem of Nigeria. I keep saying it these politicians and leaders are not aliens. Are we not seeing what is unfolding in the Labour Party?

Are the corrupt civil servants, customs, officials, police men, etc etc foreigners? The citizen given rice at 40k who sells to others at 80k is he a foreigner? The person who builds a house on a canal knowing the canal will flood his neighbors house, is he a foreigner?

Crude oyel proceeds amalgamated Nigeria since oil was found in Oloibiri in Rivers state.
Some people, especially in from the Northern region of Nigeria are ready to fight for continuation of one Nigeria today.

When you tell Nigerians from the North and Southwest of Nigeria that Nigeria is a stumbling block to modern development in the regions of Nigeria, and that Nigeria should have been dissolved if the country is in Europe, they don't believe because of crude oyel in the Niger delta region.
Re: Throwback - Amalgamation Day: How Has Nigeria Fared As A Federation? by Dalohad: 12:06pm On Sep 12, 2024
No Ibo man signed the amalgamation document. Nnamdi Kanu was right after all. The Ibos were not represented and have the right to opt out of the union.

Spew yarn as usual influenced by thoughts of cheap cash from crude oyel.
Continue with living in the world of fantasies and lies because of your belief that your region cannot survive as a sovereign country without proceeds from crude oil and gas in the Niger delta region.

Re: Throwback - Amalgamation Day: How Has Nigeria Fared As A Federation? by Panda7(m):
The southern amalgamation took place January 2001, when the Ethiopian prince was sent to study in America. Right there in college, a black African was made their secretary, these led to political affairs and wars and subsequent split which led to the independent of Nigeria. The story around the Ethiopian prince is he was mostly and partly trained in private colleges which means he had not many public projects.

The Obong of Calabar was not a signatry to the January 1, 1914 Amalgamation.
The documents was signed by the Yorubas and Fulanis.
I have a screenshot of the archives.

This is a very clear and basic analysis found in our history books. But tribal bigotry and superiority complex (over nothing), would always make them see themselves and different in all contexts. Yet, they accuse others. Very unfortunate indeed!
