Battery chemistry and tech have improved immensely in the past couple of years. The average battery should last at least 10 to 20 years. Even then range isn't adversely compromised for most use. Concerning investment, Nigerians transitioning to EV will force Nigeria to evolve new industries in the renewable energy space.

Emphasis on ''should last.''.... Don't forget battery degradation and possibly things just falling apart.......

Have you asked yourself this question, why are countries in the west, that have either fully/partially adopted EV....... Why are the prices of used EV crashing.......

They are all chineses manufactured vehicles assembled locally and rebadged.

Battery degradation is no longer a significant issue. LFP batteries that are now mostly being used in EVs degrade more slowly than other lithium-ion variants. While LFP cells have slightly lower energy density, they offer greater thermal stability and withstand more charge cycles.


Prices of all used vehicles are generally dropping due to inflation. Used EVs are falling more due mainly to - very oddly - resistance to the new technology by Petrol heads and FUD spread by combination of oil companies and mainstream car manufacturers like Ford, VW, Mercedes and so on.

Nations in the West such as Norway and Sweden that have fully committed to EV transition are happy. Norway will soon be fully EV. The UK is pushing ahead. Germany is faltering due to the challenge EVs are placing on thire huge fossil fuel auto industry.

Demand for EVs is high throughout the rest of Europe and North America including Canada but these Western nations are finding it difficult to produces them cost-effectively (mostly due to not wanting to fully committ). China is waiting to flood Europe with cost effective EVs to fulfil this demand but Europe and America are blocking them with high tariffs.

Analyst are in no doubt that EVs are replacing fossil fuel vehicles and that the major OEMs are doomed if they do not innovate to match the Chinese.

I fully agree with all your position..... But, I hope you're not forgetting the big elephant in the room......

Nigeria's inability to guarantee at least 20 hours of power supply to all + lack of investment or willingness to invest in proper infrastructures, to enable the success of EV.....

Nigeria can talk the talk, but NEVER deliver.....

Battery degradation would always be an issue, regardless of form..... If the cost of replacing this batteries are almost prohibitive, that would continually remain an issue......

Norway and Sweden are fully invested in EV, they have everything in place to enable a successful adoption (government policies, incentives + infrastructure).........

Innoson should be having Alloy wheels on all vehicles

Normally cars are manufactured with that Iron rim.
But when dealers import and send it for refublishing, that's when it is changed to alloyed rim.

If you insist that the Innoson cars are manufactured in Nigeria then it means that a large percentage of the components were made in Nigeria even if they were made by different companies!

Yes, you go there and see how they start from scratch, there are other company around nnewi that he works with, he also have other companies that can make other components like rubber/plastic, breakpad, cables, windscreen, battery, headlamps etc, not just only the engine

Innoson is so good, even the Chinese copy his cars
