Convert that tax to the dollar or pound and you will see that it is little in the grand scheme of things where health is concerned.

There is no reason to convert it to anything because the legal tender here is naira and we do not spend dollars or pounds.

Hospitals cost money, staff cost money, to get decent standard equipment cost money, even research to discover new drugs and vaccines to treat the myriad of diseases plaguing hhumans cost millions and billions of dollars.
So all that cost has to be recouped somehow. That is why Nigerians pay out of pocket for healthcare because even the subsided, substandard Healthcare that you are criticising is being paid for by someone.

Yes good health is a basic human right, but Healthcare is a business, not a charity.

Understood and I dont expect that free healthcare can happen overnight here. Perhaps in a century or two. I was just voicing a hope. Personally I feel bitter when a person dies for lack of money to afford treatment of a treatable ailment. I feel it should be a fundamental right.
