What you don't know about him is that he's neither a poor guy nor a political jobber.

He got that post as compensation to his family, not because he's a politician. He's got a flourishing career in Yoruba islamic music and dude is doing well for himself and his family.

I'm sure some of his online presence fetch him X10 of whatever government pays him, and he's the contented type.

I can relate to his situation because I have been in a similar one. But in my case, I took a leave of absence.
Once engaged, an employer is obligated to pay you once you show up for work as agreed whether there's work to be done or not.
It takes a right thinking human to understand that he's wasting away doing nothing and carry a title.
Not everyone has an ulterior motive for actions or inactions.

I know people who receive a salary from government without going to work. I mean they don't ever go to work but their name is on a payroll somewhere.

There are hundreds of them all over the country drawing salaries from the common patrimony but doing nothing. Government always rewarding inefficiency and made sound minds redundant. Go to the presidency, many array of SA, SSA and advisers doing nothing but earning very big. And the funny thing is they cannot do without appointing these excess men and women, even when they can be useful elsewhere to bring productivity to the state or country.
That aside, this man need be celebrated for being principled and upright in conscience. Wishing him best of life in his future endeavours. He has etched his family name in gold by this singular act of him and posterity will remember him for doing this.

Same here, salary goes with debt. Thank God for the garri I drink since morning, it makes my stomach swell. If one can get that kind job, na to help people. Don't know if the pay will be closed to half a Milly. The man is a big man, he already got money from music career, before he was brought to the table to come chop from the treasure

You can create a schedule of duty for yourself and impact lives rather than waiting for governor to assign duties to you.

Return is what I would say but we must also reason that before he took that decision he must have exhausted every reasonable and legitimate possibilities to make an impact even spending his own personal money but when he realized this people aren't a normal being he has to leave.
If you can't beat them join them but he took the part of dignity by leaving.
