I can agree to this because I was present during the flood that happened 2yrs ago, flood was so bad it broke part of the road leading to akili, I hope the problem gets solved one day or contingency plans are put in place. It is well

Always playing with people's life. Who are you warning? People that helpless and looking up to you for help or who exactly?

That's all they do, give warning. They don't have any plan in place to avert it.

There are solutions for rivers that overshoot its bank. There are flood barriers, dykes, flood banks etc. instead of building such things the government is asking the citizens to be vigilant. So how does being vigilant help prevent the flood?

Assuming the Maidugiri dam was not so obvious, am sure they would've accused the citizens of blocking or building on drainages.

It won't be much in the lower Niger areas because the overflow is only coming from the Benue axis. Lower Niger will be able to accommodate a good volume of the water which will then be drained through the many tributaries in Bayelsa.
The disaster is mostly when both upper Niger and Benue are flooded. This is when the lower Niger suffers the worst flooding like it happened last year.

Do you have any news about the needed dredging of River Niger?

Dredging that river will help make living better for the citizens.

In our working country when they got that scientific report, they send team to start evacuating people in the areas to a safe zone and do everything to prevent maximum damage, in Nigeria, it's opposite. Even sometimes it has careless of the leaders and man-made flood that wrecks havoc on the citizens. Nigeria shouldn't have been a country yet.

Some comments are really laughable, when He was taming the ocean,what were the governors of Benue,Kogi,Delta,Anambra etc states doing to tame rivers in their respective states?
Not all problems are solved by the President, we should learn to hold our governors responsible for certain problems.
Moreover,monies are budgeted for these by these governors.

Would creating more manmade lakes, strategically placed, help ? I don't know, sort of act like a reservoir, channeling and controlling water flow.
