Preventable disaster

Borno/Maiduguri the eyesore of the country especially during Boko Haram reign. This place only have taken more lives than that of a country population like Botswana(2.6million+)

This Maiduguri flood won't have been these bad if our agencies were to be proactive.

That dam that broke probably have been showing sign long before now.

And if the dam broke due to excess pressure as a result of excess rain, then an earlier control release of water would have saved the situation. Even if the flood still happen, it won't be this bad.

Right now, we all know that states down south will get flooded soon, watch and see, the govt won't do anything till the flood start. Even to evacuate resident in danger zone, they won't do it.

And d terrorist vice say e go give Dem 40 trailer of rice to dey cook inside d flood.. useless set of bloody politicians

I hope the flood will help flush out those terrorist from their hiding places.

I never imagined it's possible to have flood of this magnitude in a place like Borno State which is basically arid land

The flood water is milky indicative of the arid climate
..If it were one area like that, the water would have been red like crimson because erosion has ravaged and washed away the topsoil of the region century ago.

The best any government could have done is to reduce the magnitude or scale... I seriously doubt if flood of this scale is completely preventable
