I never imagined it's possible to have flood of this magnitude in a place like Borno State which is basically arid land

Its stored water from a reservoir (DAM) that caused it. Not flash flood.

When will we get Ariel picture of bandits and Boko Haram?
FG should support the ppl affected by this floods along financially and also to live a decent life until they can return to their homes. They should work with the state government. Security forces to should be involved

Praying will not solve infrastructure problems. If houses are built on proper positions and flood channelled properly. You don't need prayers.

This Maiduguri flood won't have been these bad if our agencies were to be proactive.

That dam that broke probably have been showing sign long before now.

And if the dam broke due to excess pressure as a result of excess rain, then an earlier control release of water would have saved the situation. Even if the flood still happen, it won't be this bad.

Right now, we all know that states down south will get flooded soon, watch and see, the govt won't do anything till the flood start. Even to evacuate resident in danger zone, they won't do it.

The people in leadership need to always train their staff. Sometimes, plain ignorance and sheer incompetence leads to people failing to do what they are supposed to do and it ends up causing disaster for everybody.

but i seee this thing as preventable...watching the video, from 2 mins upwards...the water didnt really affect the compunds by the left hand side at all....most of the submerged are the ghetto structures etc, what does that tell you? poor planning and anyhowness.....also there said funds were doled out, to prevent this, but it was sqanderd....dont know what to say, ...because , the slighest problem in this part of the world, they look for an igbo man to kill or destroy his business, while youruber ronu will also celebrate, i feel sorry for them , but still they will rather die than vote obi over the same man who sqanderd the billions provided to prevent this.

But there's no way you can absolve the leaders from blame for this disaster

That's what you get when leaders refuse to understand that leadership especially under democracy is service to the people. And service is to a great extent all about sacrifice which comes with faithfulness and loyalty in service to God, country and the people.
