Nice but he should build it in phases and relocate sections of government house instead of all at once.

Also one would think the contractor would construct the internal roads, drainage and provision for street lights of the complex first rather than last.

Well depends on the scheduled deadlines......I observe that most Nigerian contractors rush headlong into the sub and super structures b4 laying down utilities......na naija way!

Soludo has been impressive of late after abandoning his ill digested political remarks.......in fact I am impressed..ABSOLUTELY!!!

My only criticism of the Government house project is those awful internal cinderblock or sandcrete block fences around the governors residence and state house buildings.......why why why!!! The outer perimeter fencing can be done with a high sandcrete wall but it seems a bit redundant to fence of buildings within the premises with those awful and ugly wall fences........makes no security or aesthetical sense to me.......Nigerians just love high walls
sha! The same mistake is being made at the awka solution city.....the soccer stadium is being demarcated from the fun city with those high walls too..........hello people....block fences are not the only variant of fence available on the market.....picket ; wire mesh, picket, railings and gathers too dey

Even the American white house does not have those annoying block fences especially in front of the building! Why not do a dwarf cinder block fence and overlay it with a wrought iron railing fence? That way you do not obscure the full expanse of state house.......again where are the trees .....ornamental and shade trees? Soludo should look for Late mutala Muhammad's wife.......She has a wonderful landscape and horticultural company in Lagos..........Soludo should not leave the landscaping of that impressive complex to dem unimaginative and uncreative people in lands .............They just mess up a lot of completed Anambra projects........even the ICC looks like an abandoned scrap yard ditto the Anambra airport

Drones latest capture of picturesque views of some Anambra villas.

I have to admit, Anambra has the neatest and best laid out villas of all states in Nigeria....followed of course by Abia state! What i normally look out for are clean tarred inner-villa roads; clean gutters; greenery and vegation; lack of refuse dumps; minimal number of old rusted zinc roofs; and general lay out and spread of properties! I don't necessarily look for who has the most mansions, but i find that it's normally villas with the most mansions that tend to take care of the general appearance of the village....Alor being a case in point!

Anambra citizens should be commended for the presentable state of their villages as most of what you see is down to communal and individual effort. Of course the state gov'ts, from the time of Dr Ngige to Prof Soludo, have also played their part in provision of some of the roads shown!

Below are the best three, ranked from least best to best! Honourable mention is given to Nnobi and Awka-Etiti.

Deciding who took the coveted top spot was a challenge as it was a toss up between Oraukwu and Alor, but Alor just narrowly edged it! smiley

Now the southsouth is about to have its own development Commission,it is now clear that the Senate President is just wicked ,biased ,and so unreasonable to have rejected ANANMBRA state inclusion on the NDDC state . Senator Nwaoye shoud immediately revisit the issue now And Anambra state should be considered in from the first month of production in developmental and project benefits ....

On what basis was request for inclusion rejected? I don’t get it! Some people may not even be aware that Anambra shares border with Rivers state, and is also part of the Niger Delta. Anambra is also oil producing. So on what basis was the request rejected? And in the interest of fairness, can someone tell me what happens to the contribution Anambra makes to the federation account by way of proceeds from oil? No matter how small some may want to argue it may be, does this give the Tinubu gov’t the right to deny Anambra state their share of NDDC development?

Unless of course the federal gov’t calculates what Anambra contributes to overall revenue from oil, and reflects this by way of a reduction in what it gives NDDC! But this unlikely scenario then leaves the question of why the ‘little amount’ Anambra contributes is kept by the federal gov’t and not Anambra!

You see, when i talk of the monumental cheating and unfairness the Nigerian state directs at Ndigbo out of pure hatred and envy, some will say i’m crying wolf! And one also wonders why the federal lawmakers from the state are yet to raise any dust on this! This was how the Buhari gov’t schemed to deny Anambra it’s 13% derivation payments, being its due for oil being exploited in the state! The Buhari gov’t was only too eager to hand the payments to Delta state….that was until Obiano kicked up a fuss and put a stop to the injustice!

Southeast politicians are notorious for not being proactive about important issues and events........... Ebubeagu regional security force was first broached by southeast governors 12 months before the southwest governors set up Amotekun.....today Amotekun is waxing strong but Ebubeagu has died a natural death! Their lack of initiative is the reason ESN with all its destabilizing effects exists today!
Nobody in the southeast is talking about getting Umahi to design a spur from the Lagos Calabar highway into Abia state............. The Enugu International Airport terminal is more than 90% complete yet the southeast politicians cannot pile pressure on FG to complete the airport terminal!

True! I haven't seen that fun ride anywhere in Nigeria. The first time I saw it was in New York at Six flags amusement park. It is refreshing to know that Anambra is getting something like this for the very first time in history. The stress in the country is too much. We need places like this.
But I hope there will be adequate power supply and maintenance checks from time to time. There should be no room for negligence because it can be disastrous.

Ongoing construction of the imposing access roads and gate house to the Awka fun city.
The interior Fun City design is good but the venue suffers from poor traffic planning.

The entrance directly faces the expressway which will create a bottleneck that will cause congestion all the way back to Zara Stores. Moreover, it increases the journey for those coming from within the town who are forced to follow the expressway turn back at aroma before approaching the entrance .

Ikeja Mall, Polo Park Mall all make use of side access not frontal access and use two entrances opposite each other to reduce congestion and improve accessibility.

Solution City should open up an entrance from the back at Arthur Eze to improve accessibility not just for cars but even pedestrians.

Which three entrances? Just admit whoever designed the entrance and roads was poor. And you don't need a massive concrete structural gate for an amusement park unless you are just enriching the contractor.

The left side of the entrance to the stadium should have been converted to a road linking the site directly from Onwurah Street to it's parking lot. Then from Arthur Eze a second entrance.

You see the same lack of thinking with the ICC entrance which should be on its side road not directly on old Onitsha Enugu expressway.

A good design is ekwueme square and secretariat where you come off the expressway to a low traffic road that links to its entrance.

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by 0bjpmb:
Port harcourt pleasure park is located on the same axis as the Awka fun city. The road is wide enough to contain all the traffic. Awka fun city has 3 entrances. Awka ICC has 2 entrances too, one at low traffic road and the other at Uzu Awka junction. Both projects are properly planned and located.

I was at Anambra Invest last year. The entrance is directly on old Enugu Rd and it was chaos entering and leaving because it interfered with traffic plying that road which is heavy. Expect the same with Fun City.

Clearly the Anambra state Ministry of Works lacks the capacity to design projects from holistic standpoint. It shows in the flyover design in Awka where they chose left angles and convoluted underpass at amawbia, kwatta and arroma which slows and concentrates traffic. Flyovers are built to improve traffic flow and the design in the underpass should have been a roundabout.

Then rather than selecting somewhere like the vast dry ABS land close to the secretariat for the ICC they selected a swamp far from the town which required heavy and expensive sandfilling and will make the parking lot inherently unstable. Then they put the front gate in front of heavy traffic.

Or is it Onitsha Mall where they put the food court on the far end and the anchor tenant on the other and then locked up the nearest entrance to ShopRite to force people to pass by the food court?

The govt makes numerous mistake because they design projects in house with lack of foresight and competence. Going forward they need to award design of projects externally to a competent company and the construction to another competent company. The result is better for everyone.

Go and look at Agodi gardens in Ibadan for example. Designed by an internationally renowned South African company and built by a competent contractor.

As the bible says my people suffer for the lack of knowledge. There is a reason people spend decades studying and practicing architecture, engineering, soil testing, material science, urban planning things important for building projects. Anambra govt should do things properly.
