Sixteen months into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, sworn in May 29, 2023, the hope of Nigeria’s refineries returning to life, as promised, is fast becoming a mirage.https://tribuneonlineng.com/five-times-tinubus-govt-has-promised-to-kickstart-port-harcourt-refinery/

Like the promised and failed Ogoniland Oil Spillage Clean-Up, One-Year, One Refinery and many other deception the APC has visited upon this nation; this issue of revamping the moribund refineries is another sad tale of our national life. When $150M was budgeted for the TAM of this perennially dead PH refinery by the Buhari government with illusory promise of a rejig back to life, I immediately said this like the Ajaokuta Steel Complex scam Sarrki posted here back then is another monumental political deception. Today the same story but no one head has rolled for it. What a nation! |

TemplarLandry:Nothing cool about deceptively shifting the goal post based on deep seated corruption and no one being held accountable while the resources of this nation is being wasted on frivolity |

Thats a patriotic indictment on Tinubu adminstration. There's no justification for this kind balablue in the universe. For the mere fact that Tinubu allowed the NNPCL to deceive Nigerians without firing any of them is an indictment on him. Tinubu should sit up there's no time for pampering here |

Racoon:It was not $150Million. It was actually $1.5Billion. This is why I keep saying that as long as Mele Kyari remains the GCEO of the NNPCL, The Tinubu Administration is only joking about its useless reforms. Tinubu himself is an egotistical lunatic who wanted to become a President at all cost, not to serve the people but massage his over-bloated ego. Anybody that tells me to be patient and continue to endure the pains inflicted by this senseless Government will be obliterated & die untimely altogether with all their children and family members. I should be patient while you and your families & cronies continue to live in opulence ? E no go better for all of you altogether. The only thing that the average Nigerian enjoys was the Subsidy on Petroleum Products and Electricity. Knowing that our economy is largely import-dependent, you floated the Naira. Knowing that non of the Refineries are working, and tampering with the Subsidy automatically affects every strata of our lives, you deliberately plunged our lives into needless sufferings & hopelessness. The next brutal protests that will erupt and consume ALL OF YOU & YOUR FAMILIES will be unannounced. Shey you want to threaten and intimidate the hungry & angry masses that are already halfway to their graves with your Armed Forces? E no go better for all of you & your family members. WE WILL START HUNTING & EATING YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS LIKE THE KANGAROOS IN THE WILD.

I knew it and told people around me then, that the PH refinery wound never be delivered as promised. Successive governments had been ‘cashing out’ on the refinery by way of Turnaround Maintence even while unnecessary, most times. From the way Buhari rushed to pay the $1.5b upront, without required tenders and necessary paperwork, I knew there was more that meets the eye. FG should bring in forensic auditors to trace the $1.5b. Nigerians will be jolted to see that Mr Integrity himself don cash out. The PH refinery repair contract shares some striking semblance with that of Lagos-Calabar highway. Naija leaders get mind! |
