Right from when NNPC stepped in, I gave up on Dangote Refinery... NNPC is the headquarters of corruption. Quote me anywhere.

Anyone who thinks that fuel will drop just because we have domestic refining...should remember that transport cost, refining cost, taxes, and workers salaries are part of the price you pay for petrol

And government cannot afford subsidy, althrough they want to keep paying it...folly indeed.

But the thing is, there is no way dangote is going to pay maintenance costs, taxes, refining costs, upgrade cost, and workers salaries at international level on just N100 per liter.
petrol should be N2000 per litre. Is that high enough for you ? undecided

Again, for those who don’t understand the term our common patrimony, if we decide to drink our crude we’ve got the gaddam right to do so. It makes no sense to export at the expense of local content. It’s an aberration.

A simpler example for simpletons would be donating blood when you’re pale.

Nigeria needs its oil, we apologize to our international customers, we can’t meet the entirety of your demands, we are ramping up production. (that is whenever General Christopher gets it right, he assured us of 2 million barrels per day in 2 months).

Following the logic I’ve seen here, we may as well use global pricing for the cost of food items. Pay the international rate for a kilo of tomatoes.

Our survival is more important than putting up a front of meeting OPECs quota. People are hungry and frustrated and if cheaper petrol can provide some respite pending when FG fixes electricity and public transportation then let it sell cheap.

We are actually oil rich*

Ideally, what it should means is that it should reduce based on removed transportation costs (with attendant profits of the round trippers). It should also reduce our dependence on forex as well as increase availability of said forex. Which should then make more forex available for all the people shipping our forex overseas for medical and educational tourism.

But we are way out of that league when you look at it by population.

I hate hearing this global market forces horseshit. It goes up at the international market price increase here. It comes down at the international market Nnpc tells you it can't come down because Nigeria is not making enough money from crude. We have been hearing this for ages now. Either ways Nigerians are screwed.

Of course. It won't drop to 100naira per litre, but over a period of time,it should come down since it is locally refined here and over a period of time we shall do away with importing any form of petroleum products and its subsidiaries

You keep changing like a chameleon
Weren't you part of those who tried to convince Nigerians that Dangote's refinery and/or competitions would bring down the price of petrol following the subsidy removal, while we kept reminding you Nigeria's economy doesn't obey standard economic principles?
You guys are not only hypocritical, but ignorant.
Nigerians are already suffering for nothing more than 1yr after the unfortunate and ill-advised removal of the subsidy and the blood of the dead will be on you guys' heads.

They mentioned all cost except cost of shipping via tankers which is alot. Also,if Nigerian Govt mean well knowingwe are a petrol dependent country...They should either subsidize d crude for him or reduce price of crude sold to him to bring down d final price of petrol.

Realdeals:
We heard that the refinery gate price is #765/L

"Dangote Refinery will supply 25m liters daily at N765. while NNPCL will import the remaining 15 million liters. By end of October, Dangote supply will rise to 35m liters while NNPCL importation reduces to 5m."
Why must nnpc import anything?no be fx dem dey use import. If gate price is 765 then government subsidize 200 per litre instead of d former 600 they were doing before.
Also,it means our tru consumption will reflect so less subsidy also exchange rate will drop since 30% of our fx goes abroad to import petrol at d later end as prices is dropping becos of our exchange rate... government can also reduce subsidy amout.going below 400 is very possible

The government through the NNPC are never sincere, they are the cause of the high cost, now they have reach an agreement with dangote for only the NNPC to offtake dangote's fuel then resell to other marketers who would then sell to Nigerians, what sort of evil arrangements is that for a product producted in Nigeria?,why can every customer buy n load directly from Dangote including nnpc retail?,they have craftly created a system that would guarantees their continuos exploitation of poor Nigerians n people are here justifying it with nonsense Gramma,,It was clear at least to me long ago that this was the ultimate plan behind all the hurdles n delays,at this point I don't know if dangote is helpless in this unholy arrangements or he willfully agreed to it,but someday the truth will emerge.

Keep your smelling permutations and calculations to yourself... It doesn't work in this part of the world.

Nigeria is highly unpredictable.

Lol

I remember when we were explicitly saying that prior to Dangote petrol hitting the market, the price will rise exorbitantly, his product will come and slash maybe 100 naira or so off the price and we'll end up buying it higher than normal, and they said we were crazy and conspiracy theorists.

APC goons will all die agonizing deaths for deliberate ignorance.

Nigerians are stupid gan ! We deserve the leaders we have !

For APC supporters and Tinubu fans who hoped and prayed that Dangote refinery would crash prices, wake up and smell the akamu grin grin
Don't mind what you're hearing, once you get to the fuel pump, just start singing "On ya mandate we shall stand..." and the price will come down.

As for me; fuel price per liter above 500 is not acceptable.

#200 and below ----- very Ok

#200 - #500 ------------ Fairly Ok

#500 and above ------ Not acceptable

What of your currency?
If the prices are not competitively priced but sold at an inflationary price the currency won’t improve
Your currency does well when you have more purchasing power
Higher fuel will increase the price of everything else

Majority of Nigerians are really ignorant little wonder why we produce the type of leaders we produce

Dangote refinery buys crude at international price, and you expect him to sale below international price for you because?

Average price of petrol is around 0.8 to 1.1 dollars internationally

Say 0.8 dollars thsts ₦1300 minimum

Nnpc would buy from him at 1300 and sale to you at ₦750... Paying a subsidy of ₦500 per litre while u buy at ₦850 to ₦8950
Keep decieving urself and what do u mean by subsidy again?

We all study this economic, while all other factors are valid, let's remember that the crude if sourced locally would not incur transport cost to Europe, no taxes on the product on various countries and same no cost of importation.
The relevant cost that would be put to consideration here will be:
Cost of crude, transport to the facility, operational cost, margin and a few others

Nigerian economy does not follow any economic principle, it's only in Nigeria that water is sold to people in riverine areas for 1k per liter and the same water is sold to people in a far away desert for 5 hundred naira. We follow demonic greed and economic wickedness in this country. Even if fuel is falling as rain, it will not be cheap while we have have demons in NNPC and environs, including APC government.

When volume is in millions of barrels transportation cost becomes negligible... In fact it's far far more expensive to move petrol from depot to other part of Lagos than from India to depot... I thought u studied economics?
