NNPC still pays subsidy on PMS. Only a cra.zy person will buy directly from Dangote when you can buy it at a subsidized rate from NNPC.
Then why the drama?

Why don't you let it be a free market and let the crazy ones buy from Dangote?

Abi is it NNPC's craziness or their money?

Who are the "we"?

Which monopoly is to be avoided when the same nnpc that u blindly support has already monopolised supply?

On one hand you support nnpc for being single buyer because you claim "It makes perfect business sense to be the offtaker" and yet you say monopoly should be avoided.

Sycophancy won't let you see how you are contradicting yourself
Do you think it is easy to support this govt?

Leave him alone, he is already having migraine from cooking sense out of nonsense.

Why pay the subsidy. Subsidy for what is been refined here locally , that is not possible
Dangote is a private company, they refine petroleum products and sell at market prices. It doesn’t matter where the product is refined, the real cost of PMS is not N980, it’s more than N1200. If you want know how much PMS cost, check the prices from the countries around us. They don’t have subsidy, so they sell at an average price equivalent to N2000.

I believe the free market price is still more expensive than what PMS is been sold in Nigeria. I agree that Nigeria don’t have business with subsidy but removing it will be severe and will increase as our currency continue to devaluate.

Countries around you don't determine the cost of production. Itaa local thing. NNPC is just been selfish and following IMF blindly. We just want to be politically correct and able to continue our usual beggally lifestyle.

Those countries that can afford PMS at #1200 , ask yourself what is their GDP and economic standard. You can't say because it's sold for this price in Saudi it has to be uniform throughout the world. Hell no

I don’t even understand how what you typed above is relevant to my comment.

The fact is that FGN still provides subsidy on PMS that is why fuel in Nigeria today is till cheaper than of all the countries around us.

see these people are thieves....
they are looking for way not to bring down the price much,
selling this fuel 200per litre isn't hard, dango will still make profit, cos he drills this crude from Nigeria ground and not tinubu or APC or dongote land,
the Koko is the reason the price went up was because dangote was going to commence soon, so they needed to jack it up and people will panic for some month and when dangote starts sell they reduce it to 500 or 600 per litre and then u all will thank them.
these are con strategy they use

The marketers are comedians. Which person said they were boycotting the PMS? Dangote said they were boycotting DIESEL and AVIATION FUEL! Either the media is misquoting them or they are trying to change the narrative now things are turning better for DRIL.

Read it again if you don't understand, or ask someone to interpret it to you in any language that suits you. Subsidy on petrol is a fraud anyway the raw material (crude oil) is located in the same place as refining

CodeTemplarr:
what happens if another local marketer approaches DRL and buys excess petrol. There will be excess petrol at some point because NNPCL is offering Dangote Refinery Limited 385K BPD of crude oil and we know DRL can process 650K BPD. That effectively points to corruption between the NNPCL and their supervisors in the govt at federal level. In the previous articles, Edwin said something about around a quarter of DRL output satisfying local needs but NNPCL is saying they will be give over half of DRL capacity in exchange for local needs. NNPCL isnt in charge of the borders so should take the blame for smuggling but what is the govt doing about that? Pretending because they are the ultimate beneficiaries and you,FreeStuffNG, are playing along because you're "eating" with them?
NNPCL don't want Nigerians to know how much liter we consume daily just to cover their subsidy lies.

The premise of your argument is flawed. Dangote is a private business, not a charity, and Nigeria is not a communist country where prices are fixed for private enterprises. While it’s beneficial that raw materials are located near the refinery, this doesn’t automatically translate to below-market pricing. For instance, over 60% of the iron ore used in China is imported from Australia, yet steel prices are lower in China than in Australia. The situation is more complex than it appears.

NNPC still subsidizes PMS, which is why they are currently the sole off-taker. Dangote, on the other hand, will sell their PMS at a higher price outside Nigeria.

Your grammatical conjunction is not sufficient to defend bad and flawed government policies as you call it. Any government that cannot provide for its citizen is a failed one using any indices, or parameters you won't to use. Looking at it from any dimensions or angle. You can jack up an economy you haven't invested in from the back it only creates an avalanche or sesspool of low class citizens.

Our rulers never do anything for our benefit.

If the masses benefit, it is just a byproduct.

Anyways, this post has aged.

Dangote has sold to NNPC and has refused to say how much he sold it though refuted NNPC's claims.

NNPC has claimed that Dangote's fuel is not 'enough ' therefore needs to import more I.e. continue paying/receiving subsidy grin

Nigeria' story is headache inducing.
