But that is the truth.

For about 3 years or so now, NNPCL was the sole importer because other companies that used to import a few years ago could no longer afford the financial cost.

So NNPCL would import and sell to independent marketers at around N560. NNPLC sold through its own filing stations at around N560 - N620 depending on how far a state is from Lagos.

However, by the time the petrol that independent marketers bought from NNPCL at below N560 reach independent retail outlets the price was around N760 - 790.

That's nearly N250 per litre more than the price NNPCL sold it to them.

Even NNPCL was confused. It couldn't understand the abracadabra of the independent marketers smiley

If NNPCL say anything, this powerful group would threaten to stop lifting oil, which would make the situation worse and send prices even higher.

So NNPC cannot win with them.

Even with NNPC being the sole off taker from Dangote, these powerful independent marketers will still find a way to manipulate the process to their advantage.

That is why the only long term solution is for NNPC to continue to buy up more filling stations to increase the number of stations it has.
Or Dangote buys up in strategic locations.

I may not have known so much as the IPMAN guy, but I know he goofs, he just want to play on emotions. Aren't they the one that claimed landing cost is #1200, what are they saying now.

If you think the total cost of imported fuel was less than 1500, then you are mistaken

Nnpc was paying subsidy on a low key, that was the reason fuel price was what it was

The new price of dangote is the true price without subsidy
IPMAN is looking for attention

Dont you think if its the true price without subsidy, NNPCL shouldn't be the sole off-taker of the product from Dangote refinery unless there's some hidden arrangement.

It makes over five trillion naira sense.

That's how much it cost every year for NNPC/Nigeria to subsidise in order to keep petrol price at around N600.

And it was borrowed money that future generations will have to pay back.

Remove all petrol subsidy and let us pay the market price.

Mr Jonathan or Mr Buhari removed kerosene subsidy. People wailed that heavens will fall. It has not fallen.

Either Mr Buhari or maybe it was Mr Jonathan removed diesel subsidy. Businesses wailed that heavens will fall. Heaven hasn't.

If petrol subsidy is removed, and the country stops the bone-headed, stupid borrowing to pay for subsidy, it will be to the long term benefit of Nigeria. And heavens will still not fall.

Infact, I suspect heavens will smile and say, finally, sense got to these ones.
so we can't have a working refinery we can call ours ?

tinubu is the problem not nnpc,
how much was fuel before tinubu resumed work?
was nnpc not there and active at that time?
why was it sold at 200 per litre then,
tinubu is the real problem , he wants to milk Nigeria to death, the earlier we do away with him the better

But before now, same IPMAN made it clear that the landing cost of imported PMS is about 1200/1300. How is NNPC price higher?

The arrangement is NNPC will provide the crude in naira and buy back the petrol gotten from the crude sold to them..
All other marketers buy from NNPC so to be sure that it is consumed in naira..
We can’t be giving dangote crude at a discounted price and he will now sell to neighboring countries and make huge profit..
If he wants to sell to neighboring he will by crude at the official price and in dollars!!

What's stopping IPMAN from importing and selling at a cheaper rate?

lexy2014:
Cos nnpc controls everything including importation
Not anymore. It has been deregulated.

lexy2014:
Pls define deregulation and tell me who, how and when it was deregulated.
If there is deregulation, how come nnpc is fixing price?
Is that your definition of deregulation?
The sector has been deregulated, unless you're not up to date.
That's why I'm asking IPMAN to import and sell at their own price. Nobody will stop them.

Do you know what is crude/Petrol swap? During this kind of swap, some concessions can be made during that transaction. Can independent marketers offer that?

Nnpcl is monopolising dangote fuel after selling crude oil to them in dollars very heartless people. They will soon destroy dangote refinery with the same corruption they used in destroying their refineries.

DANGOTE SHOULD FIX N450 PER LITER AS WHOLESALE PRICE AND N500 PER LITER AS RETAIL PRICE FOR PETROL.
A MARGIN OF N50 PER LITER IS ENOUGH DISCOUNT TO OPERATE WITHIN.
You can get that price if you can get the naira to appreciate.

I know law of demand and supply doesn't apply to the system in Nigeria but if they start selling the crude oil in naira to the refineries then I know the price will fall gradually. From the statement from dangote refinery it said they sold it in dollars and by oct 1 they will get the crude oil sold in naira. I pray the price fall because fuel should not be even expensive from a refinery located in an oil producing nation.

Did dangote collect crude from nnpc for free or he paid for it?

What is the relationship between marketers buying from nnpc and consuming in naira?

Who are the "we" you are referring to?

If you say dangote was given crude at discounted price, what is that discount?

Can you show us any indication of dangotes intention of selling to neighbouring countries?
