Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has endorsed Senator Monday Okpebholo and named him “Chibuzo,” which means “God is on my way.”

The endorsement was made by members and the leadership of Ohanaeze in Edo State, Chief Ide, who praised Okpebholo as a man of few words but plenty of action.


Chief Ide recounted how he met with Senator Okpebholo, who revealed that he was raised and trained by an Igbo man, who happened to be Chief Ide’s own brother. “When I called him, he confirmed that Okpebholo is his son and pleaded that the Igbo community in Edo should give him more support,” Chief Ide said.

Addressing the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okpebholo described himself as an Igbo man, having done business and learned the ropes with an Igbo man. He pledged to be a governor who cares about the people and creates opportunities for businesses to thrive, unlike the current administration, which has plunged the state into a debt crisis of over 1 trillion naira.


Okpebholo promised to transform Edo into a modern city, declaring a state of emergency in infrastructure development and securing the state to enable investments. He also pledged to provide interest-free loans to the Igbo community through cooperative societies, and to govern without discrimination based on tribe or religion.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has described Senator Monday Okpebholo, as a proactive leader dedicated to transforming the state. Unlike the PDP candidate, who attempted to connect with the Igbo community by introducing his wife, Senator Okpebholo is a true member of the Igbo community, committed to driving positive change.

Not me, I don't engage in tribal comments. The Igbos are the largest non indigenous tribes in Edo alongside the yorubas and their votes will be crucial.. It goes to show the underground work done by Uzodinma...
