VC And Registrar, Who Is More Positioned To Secure A Job For Someone In The Sch? by neoclassical(op):
I am aware that the position of a VC is superior to that of the Registrar, I am also aware that as the Secretary of the Governing Council, applications for employment are addressed to the Registrar.
Please, can the Registrar employ someone without going through the VC? I don't want to shoot off target, anybody who is in the University system should help me with answer to this question.

VC. But sometimes HOD/Dean academic staff, employment is initiated by the Head of Department (HOD) or the Dean. The HOD or Dean makes a recommendation to the VC, informing management of the department's or faculty's staffing needs. Following this, the Registrar calls for applications from qualified individuals.

Once applications are received, they are referred back to the department for shortlisting and interviews. After the interview process, the HOD makes a recommendation to the Dean, who then approves the successful candidate and refers it to the VC for final approval. Once approved, the Registrar issues the appointment letter.

Thank you so much for this wonderful feedback. Perhaps, this is a case of a new University that is yet to recruit pioneer Staff..

Are you saying HODs and Deans more influential than Registrar in giving employment?

The VC is the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation while the Registrar is the Administrative head of the Institution.

It’s VC. VC is the Chief Executive Officer of the university. His signature on your CV can give you job in the institution immediately.
