The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal factory producing counterfeit cosmetic products at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.

Disclosing this in a post shared on its X handle on Tuesday, September 17, the agency said the factory was shut down after its operatives raided the location and discovered various unregistered chemicals and packaging materials, along with expired products that were being revalidated for sale.

Re: NAFDAC Shuts Down Illegal Cosmetics Factory In Lagos (video) by malali:
Dont shut them down.

Re-purpose them
Punish them with a fine, give them 6 months to correct all infractions and submit to independent testing, if not corrected, then shut them down.
Re-certify them
Lab test their products
Give them standards to meet
The government should set up an independent lab to test the products and makes sure it meets universal standard.
Give them loans, and send them abroad for training on how to make original cosmetics.

The cosmetics sector is a billion dollar industry all over the world.
Shutting off people's effort to make money is not the right thing to do.
You are protecting the consumers........which is good
But you have to know a lot of people depend on these as a source of livelihood.

Is it not funny that we have NAFDAC and any random product both locally made and imported are dumped into the market to put people’s skin and health in danger

Kudos to Nafdac. Many of the products in the markets are substandard and expired goods.
SON, CPC should cooperate along with NAFDAC to rid the market of substandard and expired goods so as to save lives.

Our blodas are developing Ragos. They are responsible for the fake and adulterated products flooding this country, yet they are the most vocal critics of the government. Hypocrites and confused souls

Thanks to VDM, these guys are gradually waking up to their responsibilities. You can hate that guy all you want, but just 3 of him will get other govt sectors on their feet.

Money over human life right? Shame on you.

These people are harming others and never stop to think about the consequences of their actions. Certify them, and they will still find something else illegal to do. I was expecting to hear that the miscreants have been arrested and will be charged before a court of law. Nonsense.

The Trade Fair and Alaba markets are dens of illegal, fake and substandard products.
NAFDAC and SON really need to buckle up and do due diligence on those two markets and if possible shut them down to protect venerable consumers from the unbridled menace of people who place money above health and well being.

TF is this?

Well, let's do the same for all other criminals na. Yahoo boys to hackers, armed robbers to soldiers, kidnappers to special forces e.t.c

The false logic is this post is alarming. And we wonder why crime thrives. There are thousands of business people who set up a business and go to NAFDAC for certification. It's not rocket science. Stop defending crime. A lot of people are slowly dying because of fake and counterfeit products but we should tell the criminals well done abi?? Jeeez!!

They are not counterfeiting paper or plastic cups o. It's a cosmetic that people put on their bodies. We have seen an upshoot in organ failure as a result of fake chemical products and it's even predicted to rise but we should tell these people well done. Truly mind-boggling how far some people can justify some things.

Exactly what I wanted to say. After VDM protest at gate of their head office in Abuja. Telling them to their faces that they are just collect salary and not working. All of a sudden, we started hearing about NAFDAC again.

You dey mind am.
The more disturbing fact is the amount of likes the post is getting. Yet, everyone wants to be feign surprise tomorrow if a 20yr old kills his friend for money. It starts from when we defend crimes like this.

Hmmm

We know who the owner of that fake cosmetics factory is.

SW will not condone criminality.

God bless the SS, North and MB people inhabiting the SW (they are all good people).
