So, I've been following up with the events happening in the middle east and can tell that terrorism is taking a new shape and it might no longer be limited to the Arabs. The idea that smart phones could be laced with explosive and remotely detonated causing explosions, doesn't sit well with me. Reading online and seeing Nigerians celebrate such news, leaves me wondering if we really use our brains in this part of the world.

The conflict between hezbolah militia and Isreal has seen Israel compromise communication gadgets like smart phones, walkie talkies, pagers and fingerprint lock devices that were shipped from Hungary to Lebanon. These devices were laced with explosives and were purchased in Lebanon by both hezbolah militia and civilians. They were remotely blown up by Isreal, causing explosions and deaths and injuries to people who had these devices in both Lebanon and Syria. A lot of people are of the opinion that it was targeted at terrorists but the result on ground shows these gadgets had mix use in these countries and wasn't only used by Hezbolah but also civilians. Explosions killed and injured children and women alike. Even a diplomat was a victim. But let's assume it is just hezbolah using it. Now, this is where it gets interesting. Imagine if someone using that device was on board a civilian flight at the time it was remotely blown up? What would have been the result? We would have had a situation where civilians are killed for something that is not their business.

Why do I worry? I see online a lot of travel agencies organizing travel tours to Lebanon for Nigerians. Imagine a Nigerian purchasing such a device and bringing it into the country without knowing it has been laced with explosive? Before we support certain things, I am of the opinion we should always look at things holistically from a broader perspective before we put a stamp of approval on it. Israel can fire missiles on hezbolah for as long as they like, I don't care. But a situation where they start introducing explosives into devices that could get anywhere and be in hands of civilians, is a red line crossed. On the other hand, they have also introduced a very bad idea to terrorists all over the world. I hope we do not witness a situation where mobile devices supply chain internationally, are being compromised by terrorists and laced with explosives and when they get into the hands of civilians, are remotely detonated and people are killed. With the introduction of this new concept of warfare, it's obvious future technology that people use everyday is not going to be safe and can be easily compromised and anyone buying a smart phone in future, cannot be exactly sure they won't purchase one that has been laced with explosives. This is very risky for countries who import these devices and do not manufacture them. Countries like Nigeria where our business people just place orders for gadgets from anywhere in the world, would be at great risk. I don't want to be walking around with the fear that the smart phone in my hand could be turned into a weapon. For all it is worth, I think we should all jointly condemn the introduction of explosives into technology that could be in the hands of civilians. Fire your missiles and bombs at whoever you are at war with but don't lace mobile phones, walkie talkie, pagers, finger print locks, etc with explosives. That is pure terrorism and should never be supported. I'd say it again, Israel can bomb hezbolah as they like in defense of their country but technology of mix use, should never be used as a weapon.

Like I said, there should be red lines during warfare. Technology that has civilian use should never be used as a weapon. This is not rocket science. Drop your bombs on the terrorists you are fighting but don't compromise things that civilians could have access to for their personal use.

You 100% took this out of my mouth. I’m more than happy if they drop bombs on them and clear them out wherever they hide, not deliberately impacting civilian life.

This is what I don't like about a lot of Nairalanders. He knows deep inside him what the truth is but refuses to acknowledge it because of blind support for Israel which should not be the case. We should always be able to call a bad thing exactly what it is irrespective of whether or not we support the person behind it. I read this morning that Lebanon has banned pagers and walkie talkies from flights to and from Lebanon. This is a good step in the right direction to reduce the risk of airplanes being blown up as a result of such devices on them and civilians getting killed for nothing.

I won't be surprised if some of those walkie talkies especially have made their way to Nigeria already .

Israel doesn't comment ,not to talk of taking responsibility for terrorist acts it commits

And its people like them that will castigate people for holding an opinion different from theirs.
They cherry pick when it comes to issues just like their European and American puppets.

While they are Screaming Putin must go to jail from Brussels to Washington, they sheepishly looked on and became mute to atrocities Bibi is committing in Gaza .
The only good thing Is their hypocrisy this time around is being seen by all and in real time
