DID YOU KNOW? The ₦70k Minimum Wage In Nigeria Is Compulsory For All Employers by NaijaphiliaBlog(op): 10:41am On Sep 19, 2024
The Federal Government of Nigeria has notified agencies which employ staff for the private sector that the new ₦70,000 minimum wage is compulsory.

This was done on Wednesday 18 September 2024 by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar.

He was speaking at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria, at Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to him, “The minimum wage is now a law, and as a result, it is a punishable crime for any employer to pay less than ₦70,000 to any of its workers.

“The minimum wage is a law, and you can be jailed if you fail to implement it. The Federal Government is committed to ensuring that the least paid worker goes home with ₦70,000.”

Is like the people complaining that #70,000 is too small as minimum wage are also complaining that they can't afford to pay the minimum wage, #70,000 because it is too much for them to be able to pay. grin
