Daddy D.O🇳🇬 @DOlusegun

Mr President will not be attending this year's United Nations General Assembly because after his trips to China and the United Kingdom, he wants to focus on domestic issues and address some of the country's challenges, especially after the recent devastating flooding.

The Vice President will lead Nigeria's delegation to the United Nations where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 79th United Nations General Assembly

STATE HOUSE PRESS STATEMENT

VICE PRESIDENT SHETTIMA TO LEAD NIGERIA'S DELEGATION TO 79th UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

President Bola Tinubu will not attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly session in New York this year.

The President has thus directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead Nigeria's delegation.

President Tinubu, who returned to the country last Sunday after his trip to China and the United Kingdom, wants to focus on domestic issues and address some of the country's challenges, especially after the recent devastating flooding.

At UNGA 79, Vice President Shettima will deliver Nigeria's national statement to the General Assembly, attend important sideline events, and hold bilateral meetings.

The high-level General Debate, with the theme "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations," will run from Tuesday, September 24, through Saturday, September 28, 2024.

The Presidency had previously announced (when President Tinubu was in China) that the president would go to London for a private visit and from there he would go to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, but he flew home from the UK to visit Maiduguri due to the flood that affected the city.

President Tinubu had addressed the UN General Assembly last year.

Just tell us he's not healthy enough to travel, as his presence has never helped Nigeria in any way.

Was it not in his presence that hundreds of thousands of innocent Nigerians are being harassed, kidnapped, raped, killed and sold, what did he do?

Is it not in his presence that fuel went from #200 to #1,400, whT did he do?

He was also here where hunger forced most Nigerians to sleep without eating food, and yet he remained utterly useless in his life.

If you say he wants to stay because of the floods which are receding, what did he do as soon as the floods broke out, he relocated to another country and spent weeks while good Nigerians like Peter Obi were on ground in Maiduguri, spending money to help the poor Nigerians.

A heartless man will always remain heartless.

This UN general assembly is the most useless convergence of world leaders. All they do is talk and talk from morning till night for days. I miss the days of Gaddafi.

Story for the gods
Tinubu suddenly cares
In all the eyeservice displayed by our ever looting politicians over this flooding issue, this is easily the worst
As president, he has not asked the minister of environment and water resources to investigate and report on the immediate and remote causes of the Alau dam breakage
He has not asked for a comprehensive plan to forestall such occurrence
Neither has he detailed anyone to coordinate the emergency and technical response to curtail both the human and environmental fallout of the flooding
Such incompetence and cluelessness makes Jonathan looks like Einstein
Is it because of silly lies like this that Ngelale was kicked out?

You benefit from them directly or indirectly or you have a family member that does and gives you money.
