Nigerians Writing Us To Recall Federal, State Lawmakers –INEC by Islie(op): 11:31am On Sep 20, 2024
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has received a number of requests from different groups across the country, seeking the recall of their representatives in the national and state assemblies.

This is just as the commission released the revised Regulations and Guidelines for the recall of federal and state lawmakers as well as councillors in the Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC revealed these in a statement on Thursday at the end of the management meeting of the commission.

He said that the decision was taken in addition to reviewing the final preparations for the off-cycle Edo State governorship election on Saturday.

He said that some groups even requested the commission to initiate the process of the recall on their behalf.

For clarity, the process is initiated by the voters in a constituency. The commission only implements their request in line with Sections 69, 110 and 160 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and Sections 2(c) and 113 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Accordingly, the commission has reviewed the regulations and guidelines, providing a detailed procedure for recall,” Olumekun said.

He also said that the 10-page document had been uploaded to INEC website and social media platforms for the guidance of prospective petitioners and for public information.

He urged constituents interested in the recall of their elected representatives to be guided by the provisions of the regulations and guidelines in preparing and submitting their petitions to the commission.

Re: Nigerians Writing Us To Recall Federal, State Lawmakers –INEC by Namaster:
RECALLING a lawmaker and IMPEACHING an elected official should be as easy as spotting an IDIOT at an APC rally (hint: it's ALL of them).

NOBODY should be saddled with a limp, UNDERPERFORMING and nonperforming Senator or Representative.

NOBODY should be made to feel like they are STUCK with a USELESS politician whose idea of empowering his constituents is giving them hoes and wheelbarrows.

NO politician should EVER feel safe and secure in their position. Politicians should have ZERO job security.

NO politician should think that they ONLY need to bring their A-game to the campaign and that it's over after they win an election.

Politicians should be EAGER to impress the masses for fear of being IMPEACHED, RECALLED and REPLACED.

The procedure should be made EASIER and INEC should provide support to people who want to initiate a recall. And ACT on people's request.

HORRIBLE politicians should be VERY EASY to kick out. That's one of the ways Nigeria could possibly get better.

Any law maker just seating down in the red and green chambers contributing nothing to national development, sponsoring any meaningful bills and canvassing for his people should be recalled back ASAP.

Nigerians did not elect you to go and seat down there as numbers listening to bills sponsored by others. At the end of the month you collect salary and constituency project without doing nothing.

Is it possible for INEC to help us recall Ezenwa Onyewuchi? He's the senator representing Owerri zone, Imo state.

Man is useless to Owerri people as the P in Psychology.
Re: Nigerians Writing Us To Recall Federal, State Lawmakers –INEC by malali: 11:53am On Sep 20, 2024
Some lawmakers are so dormant....

Tinubu is running up and down, like he can do it alone.

If you dont start recalling the senators and the house of representatives, Tinubu will always be the victim

But if the constituents start seeing their representatives and senators as partially responsible, they will seat up and placate the constituents.

93,469,008 voters sat on their lazy irresponsible asses.

Recall is an electoral act that needs to be fully explored! The Supreme Court should stop deciding who won elections! INEC should use technology to gain and build voter trust and confidence.

The results were doctored in such a way that the real winner doesnt get the mandate but the best rigger. If all 90m had risked their lives and gone to vote, same outcome will have been the case but in another scale or magnitude. The riggers rig in principle and not by doing it partially then hope their candidate goes in. They forge whatever is needed for the mandate buyer to get power and not halfheartedly.

After ushering idiots into elective position by your incompency, what do you expect then.the fact that academics are the people in charge of the brouhaha called election is heartbreaking. In my view Nigerian youths are still morally upright considering the fact that professors and judges who are seen as moral compass are un charge of this madness.

I disagree!

Any reasonable person who wants to doctor results of the last election will not doctor a mere 8,794,726 votes out of a legible 93,469,008 registered voters. And the sooner we start being honest with ourselves, the sooner we'd find a remedy.

Good.
My senator is Ramoni Olalekan Mustapha,.
I'll send his office an email now to give account of what he has done since May 2023. If not, I'll write to INEC to recall him.

Be reasonable in your speculation. They doctoring was done within the context of available votes. Anything other than that would have made it lost credibility. Thats why there had to be verification to ascertain the number of voters that turned out. It was meant to reduce the rigging margin and expose careless riggers who may declare more votes than voters. That was what the north used against GEJ in 2015.

In 2023, tinubu n apc orchesrated a distributed form of rigging that takes into acccount the available votes. Dude used Linear Regression. From the available votes he reallocated the needed number of votes for a victory and made sure mumber one was given number three to calm nerves. Number three became number two to equally calm their nerves. Thats why the injustice was more towards LP and used to silence PDP. Ever wondered why all their energy and focus is on LP and Obidients?

Finally, some commonsense! This is an exercise that should begin even before the protest, one that even those who do not show up to protest can engage in to show they disapprove of the situation in the country even if in a cowardly way. undecided
