NNPCL Moves To Revive Brass, OK LNG Projects. by Pbatmedia(op): 8:49pm On Sep 20, 2024
BREAKING: NNPC Ltd Moves to Revive Brass, OK LNG Projects.

In its continued bid to maximise the nation’s abundant gas resources for economic development and prosperity, NNPC Ltd. has begun discussions with investors towards bringing back two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, Brass and Olokola LNG projects.

NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Umar Ajiya disclosed this on the sidelines of the ongoing 2024 Gas Technology Conference and Exhibition (Gastech), in Houston, United States, on Thursday.

Brass LNG and OK LNG are two LNG projects with the potential of manifold economic benefits for the country which include job creation, power generation, revenue generation and economic diversification. The multi-billion-dollar projects were however stalled due to unfavourable market dynamics and slow decision-making by the political class in the past.

"In the past, gas prices went down, the economics of the projects meant a high Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), and this was a dis-incentive for investors and partners. Also, there was slow decision-making by the political class," the CFO added.

While describing NNPC Ltd. as a commercially driven Company which recognises timely project development and execution, the CFO said there are abundant gas resources in many parts of the world and therefore, the earlier Nigeria makes smart decisions to bring partners to the table, the better.

Ajiya commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support in driving new projects in the Industry through the Presidential Executive Orders on Oil & Gas Reforms.

"We are also happy to have the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021 (PIA) which has provided fiscal incentives for investors and is creating the enabling environment that has rekindled hope in the energy sector."

Ajiya described Gastech as an avenue for NNPC Ltd. to learn new technologies which will help the Company decarbonise its operations and promote its abundant LNG resources to the global market.

Gastech is the world’s leading forum dedicated to delivering a more sustainable energy future by bringing together experts who brainstorm to create pathways towards global energy security for lasting climate impact

Hmm
NNPCL what is happening to the port Harcourt refinery?
Didn't U say that by September, the refinery will start rolling out pms products?
This is 21 of September and nothing has happened!
In saner climes that are big on accountability, the incompetent and corrupt executives would have lost their jobs but we also have an administration that is equally incompetent and clueless!

After they re done they will tell you how they have been subsidizing the gas for you even though there is no subsidy at these moment
Re: NNPCL Moves To Revive Brass, OK LNG Projects. by 10thTenthMan:
To Olokola….We return?

Have you all abandoned the refineries? Abandoned other critical matters? Is this lip service or another means and ways to create a new ATM Machine outlet for the Government ?

NNPCL HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE ATM OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT…MELEE ONLY ENSURED THAT THE MACHINE IS STRONG AND ROBUST TO DISPENSE AS MUCH CASH AS POSSIBLE AND CONFUSE ONLOOKERS who get curious. The NNPC As an ATM machine only pays those who have the special and privileged withdrawals Cards.

Back to OKLNG. Please and please and please and please! The uselessness of the initial project team where contracts where given out for useless repeated environmental studies and other fictitious contracts and so on should not happen again.

That project was used to siphon monies in the past. Those who ran it aground are still without conscience looking for additional monies to steal. And when the project failed woefully, those in charge acted like they were alarmed that that project failed!

How can you be alarmed for something that ab initio you contributed to its failure? How can you act alarmed ? What do you think happens when you squander the money given to you by benevolent relatives or friends to build a house for your self? Will the house get completed? Not as if you have another source of income. And if you did you would squander that too? How can you this willfully or ignorantly wicked?!

In my opinion, very very very knowledgeable, experienced and principled project manager should be made to head that project. The project should also be executed in such a way that it is made up a subset of projects whereby the facility key deliverables/components are headed by other project managers reporting to A selected Project Leadership Managers of the Entire Project. Various project teams should then be nominated from both regulators and operators/partners to monitor and ensure deliverables of these key project facilities deliverables/components.

Yes. Let there be multiple project teams while a central team coordinates progress, site activities, logistics, camp matters, etc.

OKLNG Should have been a done and settled deal that Nigerians should be enjoying by now.

I shall look for my old photos of OKLNG. I need to reminisce.
