For this remark alone, I doubt Wike stands any chance of winning any office that is to be decided by votes of the masses. And indeed, this video is already on the Internet and will continue to be used as evidence against him either in the near or distant future.

Additionally, he can only say this in the midst of heavy security presence. If he is in doubt, he can just take a ride to the nearest market without his security details and repeat the remarks. He will get appropriate reaction in the appropriate language.

Wike is grossly wrong. The Feds cut base interest rate by 0.5% bringing it to slightly below 5%.

Reason ? The worst of inflationary pressures are over. 10% post COVID inflation has come down to 2% from 2022 to today.

The rate cut is actually not meant for traditional demand boost but to ease debt burdens for companies and spur investments for employment to increase and heat up labor markets. Markets worldwide have responded with enthusiasm. Indexes are up.

In reality, a place like Nigeria should be celebrating as there should be talk about renewed interest in the economy from global players. However, infrastructure, policy, corruption, transparency and poor democratic credentials are standing in the way.

So what is Wike saying ? Literally could've said this last week as an excuse, but this week that argument is dead. Are Nigerian leaders actually aware of their task ?

Increase of cost of commodities is globally. It is not only in Nigeria. Call anyone of your relatives abroad,if at all you have anyone to call , the complains are the same.
