1. SO that we can pay full price for full power.

2. You can type this stuff from your house because Obasanjo refused to subsidse GSM. OH he was insulted, oh people called him names, oh, people abused GSM companies well well. But they took our money and improved our telephony. We went from less than 500000 lines in 1997 to tens of millions of lines by 2007.

Try running your business where 80% of your customers owe you money, and 40% don't pay. See if it would be successful

Forget politcs...there is nothing like free power.
what are you even saying sef?

You are back again with your propaganda I still remember how you were all over this forum especially on threads that has to do with fuel subsidy removal, how you kept pushing for the removal of fuel subsidy..... You are not satisfied, you now want subsidy to be removed on electricity to kill more Nigerians.... You will never demand accountability from the government or champion it's course as it is glaring you derive joy in the crisis that has engulfed Nigeria's economy already and want it's total destruction by pushing for the removal of all energy subsidies.... Callous!

nairalanda1:
All in all, we should have removed the subsidy on power, make everyone pay for power at market price, and there would be massive improvement in power supply.

We get bad power because we don't pay for power in full. Even now

1. Most Nigerians do not pay the market price for power

2. 40% of Nigerians , if not more, don't pay for power at all.

Run your business that way, and you would lose money well well

The above is why we do not have constant power supply. And why we have shitty power. And why we have blackouts.

Plus, with debt service rising again, government can't afford subsides for power.

But most of you don't want to hear the truth....so we will blame corruption, the Hausas, tinubu, gej, buhari, the army, etc etc.

Tomorrow we will cheer for the guy who chases nepa people from disconetctin him....a big part of the problem.

Modifed

I love the tears of rage of the people who throw tantrums at the above posts...yes all of you.

NO matter how angry you are...electricity costs money to generate and transmit.

Also, the cost of things do not respect your feelings, or mine.

Suck it up, buttercups. cheesy

Now, let me ask you:

What exactly is the tax collected from tax payers used for?

Do you realize that there are lots of people who aren't on a minimum wage? Do you even realize this?

People who can't afford to buy food or access quality healthcare.

You spew insensitivity like we have a system that ensures that all and sundry are catered for.

They shouldn't subsidize and use the money to fuel a flamboyant government.

I don't know where you are presently but that you are living in a glass house is no reason to spew out insensitivity. What comes around always comes around.

The poor are being taxed to fuel the lifestyle of the rich and that's why we are heavily indebted. Why are the sacrifices being made by the poor? Does it have any effect on the rich?

You are just plain insensitive. It isn't the truth you speak. You spew insensitivity.
I am afraid you actually don't know a lot of things.

Electricity cost money.

Yes I am insentive . I am also telling you the truth.

Something that costs over 160 naira per kWh you want to sell it at less than 70 naira per kWh because we are poor.?

So how would the power sector pay for improvement when it loses 90 naira or more per kWh of power sold?

And when a lot of people are not paying?

And in your akpu and ewedu filled mind that is how to do business?

Ok. O. You guys don't want to face the truth.

People generally believe that fuel subsidy that he removed is the major source of this economic meltdown and inflation, whereas it is the floating of naira that's crippling our economy and making the prices of goods and services out of reach

We need 10 billion dollars in annual investments to get to 24 hour power supply.

Our budget is 18 billion dollars.

If we follow your way, we may get good power supply, but at the expense of a hefty debt which would eat our country alive...and all in it.

Oga, if you won't let the poor set your prices as a business person, then don't force it on the power supply sector.

Either we pay full market price, or we stop grumbling and enjoy the rubbish we acutally pay for.
Stop wailing here, no one needs your chochocho. You should have advised Tinubu before he paid 150 billion naira to acquire a refurbished jet

Set of unfortunate government where are they supplying the electricity to? They are just sharing the subsidy monthly and want the masses to continue pay their bills. Anyway the masses are yet to learn once they learnt they will reject this Draconian/corrupt government entirely

Most areas in Alimosho can't afford to recharge their meter... Most see steady lights but unable to use.. My colleague said they only recharge #2000 overnight alone. This government want to render the poor masses useless for political gains... keep them poor and give them tokens they won't be able to resist when election comes... Everyone is frustrated at the moment and it won't take for things to explode
This is what I just told nairaland1. This is a third world country for God's sake, a poor country! What is the national average income for the citizens? Can't be more than 40k per month! If every item and service is too high, it means citizens won't be able to afford it! Fuel, electricity, house rents, water, etc.
Last last, the companies providing such services will eventually be running into trouble once people/customers stop or reducing patronising them. Low patronage means incurring loses

Well, Austira's budget is over 200 billion euros

Nigeria's budget is about less than 20 billion euros...16.2 billion euros precisely.

That is why Austria can afford to give you money, Nigeria can't.

Nigeria's own is even made worse by corruption and stealing and running an economy that is less productive, not sharing.

Oga, that is why I don't like any of APC or PDP, and regard this government as useless. There is no policy in place to give us the kind of economy Austria has. Because it means sacrifices you and your government are not ready to make.

So, you want Austria benefit on a budget that is one tenth of Austria, and you wonder why I am laughing at you.

Better grow up son. Reality is not what you think it is.

Get a government that makes us a manufacturer of goods and services, that exports, then maybe we can talk

But because you are still young, you will call me agbado, and run away. Typical eh,
