...... majority are yet to realize the APC cult have hijacked INEC and Judiciary (since 2015) such that regime change by ballot box becomes impossible -maybe people will wake up after 2027 (s)election !! Elections have become a matter of "whose turn it is" (emilokan) within the APC cult. There was no election in 2019, 2023 and there wont be any in 2027 either. May OLODUMARE hasten the expiry date. |

owunabastard:There's more sanity now than back then. You must be a kid who didn't witness the elections in 2003 and 2007 In 2007, INEC was announcing results while people were still voting in some states. Till today, INEC has not release the full result of that year presidential election. Our election is getting better. |

Going to court is the most peaceful way to resolve matters. Nigerians should quit being bad losers. There can be only one winner at a time. Elections are not a one-time event; they occur every four years, and there will always be opportunities for losers in one election to be winners in the next elections. Those who lost the elections in Edo won four years ago and vice versa. Nigerians should stop being childish |

Nigeria is a country run on systems of patronage. If one system loses out, a lot of people from the rich to the poor can lose a lot of money and livelihood. Tell me, if you were a republican in the USA, and Kamala won the coming election, would you lose your job and means of livelihood? You probably might do so if you post online on social media, a post under your real name name declaiming that Kamala likes to drink the blood of little children, but otherwise nothing is going to happen to you. IN NIgeria, a president losing election means that members of his tribe and allied tribes no longer have access to jobs, access to contracts, access to appointments, etc etc...and the same thing goes for allied religions and so on, and it extends to thousands of people. That's why in 2011, millions of Northerners went mad with anger, and attacked people for nothing. It is why we have IPOB/UGM Bombing stuff, and why we suddenly have an upsurge in Yoruba nationalists all over the place. ELections in Nigeria mean trickle down benefits. For many people. It does not work that way in saner climes. That is why I make the argument that we have to develop an industrial economy that exports...because if we do that, there would be more and more jobs than we can think of. Thus no one need fear losing out in any election. But we are a poor country, and as a result the livelihoods of millions of people depend on who wins elections. It was the same in the USA...right up till the USA became an industrial nation and less of a rural agrarian nation. Result...it gradually stopped mattering who won elections...plus as more people became urbanized, the politicans realized that if they wanted to keep the gravy train rolling, they better provide good services to the populace, and to the businesses and industries that their govt relied on for more money. That is why many politicans go to court...even when they know they lost, and why people engage in conspiracy theories about elections in this country. The edo election was probably not rigged, yet people say it was because at the end, people have to eat, and if eating is jeopardised because your party lost, you are not going to be essentially saying the election was free and fair, and see you in four years time...lol. I honestly don't have a solution. |

Cry us a river. Isn't it this same court that affirm Oshiomhole as governor, when his election was rigged by the PDP? If you have your facts and proof, going to court isn't something you should be afraid of, it's something you should look forward to, because facts don't lie. Lol |

LP, PDP and even APC have all seemed redress in a court of law at one point or the other and won back their mandate where the truly been cheated. So how do you say the idea of telling someone that truly believe he won an election to seek a redress is a threat to free and fair elections? |

Go to court if you feel aggrieved. Where else do you want to go? |
| Re: The Audacity Of “Go To Court”: A Threat To Free And Fair Elections In Nigeria by hotseat: 5:03pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
In as much as one may agree on some of the points raised by the Op, the fault in most cases lies with the political parties themselves noted for having an incurable mindset of victory by any means possible even when such possiblity is untenable. Every political party tries to outwit its opponents by applying every trick in the book to achieve victory. The losers in this competition of dog-eat-dog often resort to crying foul play in the electoral process when they become outwitted in the political battle. As for the judiciary, it's the aggrieved that brings cases to the court and not the other way around. They (judiciary) could only decide a dispute based on indisputable facts and evidence brought before it and not based on emotions or sentiments. Blame the politrickcians for any perceived impediments in our electoral system. @hotseat |

ObosiLandlord:Should conduct of election even end in court if the rules and procedures of an election are seen to be adhered to? When are we going to get things right as a country? Everything and every aspect of our systems are been manipulated by Nigerians to their favour. No country grow with such mindset of circumventing every systems. |
