Jacob Zuma didn't resign easily... He was pressured to. He had I think 5 votes of no confidence passed by parliament at the time. Even his party the ANC had lost confidence in him. Opposition parties filed multiple motions of no confidence in him. He was also facing a hand full of corruption allegations/charges and legal battles. All these culminated in his resignation. First of all, Nigeria is not South Africa. No elected candidate has voluntarily resigned in Nigeria.
