He has seen it all and he decided to pick what's best for him.
I am not anti japa but I will still say it without fear. If I have enough money that would cover all my "japa expenses" I would stay back in Nigeria and invest the money. I am familiar with Nigeria and it will be easy for me to do so many things here than a foreign land.

Last year I had the opportunity to travel abroad I told the person to invest the money in a business for me here, since he is also doing well in Nigeria without traveling abroad to hustle, he refused to give me any money or even invest it for me in a business. I told him I wasn't interested in traveling, that I can't be slaving away in a foreign land, living in fear or foreign laws that are anti black (no matter how nice they paint it) plus leaving all the people I cherish behind was something I can't imagine.
He kept his money and I thanked him for offering to help.

Lets do a deal,

I am willing to go out of the country if you can secure the sponsorship for me from your friend, I will share my earnings with you for a period of 10 years.

And in the clause we will become business partners for all our established investments in Nigeria..

What do you say…

So you're insulting someone who decided to move back to his country away from the land of gun violence and hyper-inflation?

He worked at John Hopkins, definitely he won't have any financial concerns in Nigeria. And Nigeria is his homeland, those calling him mad may be more stupid.
Someone who worked at john hopkins is extremely rich.He came back to invest in his practice here in naija...wit limited tax n government interference.I would hav probably done d same thing. He is already American citizen so dont forget.

His opinion details the way his mind thinks.

Accomplished people have various motivation for making their decisions.

Less accomplished people often do out of desperation.
And your opinion details the way your mind thinks by thinking he is immensed in poverty because of the way he thinks, If you do not agree with his opinions doesn't mean he is poor.

Many wealthy people or accomplished people (as you out it) are not always right in their decisions.

You think the doctor would tell us he made his decision in desparation? I don't think he would.

Yes, it's the poverty-stricken people that are more correct.

No place like home. No matter the comfort.
Even here in Nigeria, sometimes I do miss my village

My brother, if the offer is still available, go back and humbly take it up. If the offer is solid (not one in which you run from police), it should provide you some financial leverage to come back home after a few years and purse your said Nigerian dream.
With what you have described up here, it sounds as if you lost out both ways- he didn't agree to help you on your own terms and yet you lost the opportunity to help yourself on your own terms even if this will be later in the future

Self-worth is fantastic. But more often than not, you stoop to conquer.

That's the goal, have every step planned long before now, welcome back sir.

1. Medical doctor can survive anywhere in the world because their service is of high demand, so coming to establish himself into a well striving business.

2. Work for up to 20+years in the U.S so he is now benefiting from a good pension scheme.

3. Already a U.S citizen and can head back anytime things goes sour with the Nigeria economy which I doubts because his field will be the last go go down on a seeking boat.

He has nothing to loss than to chop life at this stage.

Watch the thread grow to 20 pages as usual with people generalizing, analyzing and over analyzing USA residents, their lifestyle, their income and making unnecessary comparisons et al.

What’s newsworthy in someone going home to settle in their own country? I guess since he announced his return on the internet, people have no choice but to analyze his decision.

I wish him happiness and success in his ventures
He’s looking for publicity, he has a thriving real estate business in the USA.

I have not said so, grin for some reason you appear angry with so called poverty stricken people (as you decribe them again) are you saying that anyone who is poor shouldn't have an opinion? Or that they are always wrong, or that no one should agree with their opinions or that their decisions are always made outta desparations?.

You also seem to be quick to call people poverty stricken people or identify them, i sense could it be because You are one of them? undecided

It is one thing to establish a business or hospital in Nigeria. It is quite another to sell your house and everything and relocate to Nigeria with your family!

He can claim he's trying to help Nigeria (a lie).
It can be for any reason - burn out, crime he knows may catch up with him, moment of depression, loans owed, other pressures, etc.
I can assure you of one thing - almost all relocate because something is "chasing" them
What is this one saying?

It is too early to judge him.
Time will tell.
The U.S may not be the place of his destiny.
After all the likes of Mike Adenuga and Daniel Olukoya, even when they had the opportunity to be fully based abroad relocated back to Nigeria to become billionaires.
Time will tell.
I wish him the best.

I insist that it is mostly poverty that makes a human think another cannot abandon what is seemingly convenient for his passion.

Money isn't everything. And, in a sense, returning his children to Nigeria, is worth millions. I've stated this before and will reiterate: if you are Nigerian - I mean if you are Nigerian reading this not the millions from other African nations residing in Nigeria that are full of hate for Nigeria - do not send your children abroad untill they are 13 years old and above. Don't do it regardless of the fancy tales you may hear.

Let your children spend thire formative years in Nigeria.

Actually John’s Hopkins isn’t renowned for being a well paying institution compared to other hospitals. There’s a whole Reddit about it.They compensate you for the lower pay by giving you the privilege to say you worked at world class teaching hospital.

It’s common among USA teaching hospitals to low ball their employees because they have tons of applicants who want to come and learn. For any position you refuse, there are 10 people in line waiting to get in.

Medical doctor that have made it over there, I am sure he has enough to start his own medical line or something down here in Nigeria... Hopefully the collapsing economy would not threaten his business like it has done to many business owners
According to what the doc said, he has investment in other areas, financial lack is out of it for now

Okay, you are allowed that view. No need for me to waffle on

Remember, wealthy folks where once less opportuned before their wealth, so i would never describe anyone as poverty stricken, afterall, they are not standing at my door with a begging bowl. Poverty is relative, what you would call or decribe as poverty may differ from what others would decribe or call poverty.

That's exactly what I'm saying:
It's because of where shoe pinches him.
For whatever reason, relocating back to Nigeria is the best option FOR HIM, not because he's out to do Nigeria a big favour!

People get burnt out or there's a hidden something chasing them, but I can assure you of one thing - no one relocates back to Nigeria because he wants to help the country!

You are 100% correct on the emboldend. People relocate to Nigeria for their sanity. This might sound strange to people suffering in Nigeria, but the West can fvck you up after some years.

If you have money and don't have to worry about paying rent, Nigeria is the best place for you to settle down.
