Someone who worked at john hopkins is extremely rich.He came back to invest in his practice here in naija...wit limited tax n government interference.I would hav probably done d same thing. He is already American citizen so dont forget.
the issue is many Nigerians living in Nigeria and hasn't traveled outside usually believe that Nigeria is the worst place to live, so they see anyone coming back as a mad person. but usually, people who have stayed long abroad are the ones who see the opportunities in Nigeria and they are always eager to come back if they have the hance,
what many do not know is it is only in virgin places like Africa that you can carve out a name for yourself fast and be noticed easily. there is vast opportunities for investment here in Nigeria and Africa as a whole

Don't tell me you are laughing at someone who probably already has an American passport.

You should have taken up his offer since he was unwilling to give you the cash. You could always come back
Sincerely, he really goofed!

Seems he's a local man & won't be able to thrive in a "saner clime".

He also said he is CEO of a multi-family real estate company (read: loans, loans, and more loans).
It is one thing to establish a business or hospital in Nigeria. It is quite another to sell your house and everything and relocate to Nigeria with your family!

He can claim he's trying to help Nigeria (sure!).
It can be for any reason - burn out, crime he knows may catch up with him, moment of depression, loans owed, other pressures, etc.
I can assure you of one thing - almost all relocate because something is "chasing" them
You guys must have something to say! Keep it up

So you're insulting someone who decided to move back to his country away from the land of gun violence and hyper-inflation?

He worked at John Hopkins, definitely he won't have any financial concerns in Nigeria. And Nigeria is his homeland, those calling him mad may be more stupid.
Let's hope that Fulani Jihadists in many forms do not harm him or member of his family.
Let's hope that Simon Ekpa's anti Biafra squads marauding in the southeast do not harm him or member of his family.

We all need to be like him for Nigeria to move foward. No President can help Nigeria succeed if we all cannot come together to contribute our little. God bless you Doc and God bless Nigeria.

It’s what they normally do. That’s the endgame for Africans that way. Some come back, try their hands in establishing a business and then run back to the US from political frustration. I wish him luck. He’ll need lots of it.

That's where govts goof. You need a good ADMINISTRATOR as minister of health, quite different skill sets from those needed for a good doctor.

Necessary because I know most people will say "what a nice man to leave heaven in US just to come and help Nigeria". Someone has to point out it's all self-interest

Big guy
You said it all, "Big guy".
People that have reached the peak of their career abroad always want to come back. My paddies that have made it abroad, almost every other day they are in naija. Abuja especially as they say it is calm, no traffic etc. They all want to own property, have businesses here and bring their kids, both young and old.
This Dr is a big man at the peak of his career, he will likely make more money in naija than he does in the US with less tax etc

Watch the thread grow to 20 pages as usual with people generalizing, analyzing and over analyzing USA residents, their lifestyle, their income and making unnecessary comparisons et al.

What’s newsworthy in someone going home to settle in their own country? I guess since he announced his return on the internet, people have no choice but to analyze his decision.

I wish him happiness and success in his ventures
the newsworthy part is he left a job paying 1 million dollars a year. orthopedic surgery

As far as I am concerned, the reason he has given for his return is CAP.

I have seen many excuses for his japada, I have not seen the major reason. I am postulating that the major reason for his japada is to give his children sound, moral, Nigerian values that can NEVER be gotten in America. With the recent wave of LGBTQ and the inability to properly discipline children in the US, the best bet is to retun home and reset all that needs to be reset. Since it will be pretty difficult for the children living without their parents in Nigeria, the best bet is for all of them to return of which they will all go back when the children are of age and have been inculcated with the right values. At the end of the day, you are not hustling for yourself alone but for your generations unborn. An untrained, indisciplined, lawless child will render all that work to nothing.

Combined Role
If the individual is both an orthopedic surgeon and professor, the combined salary would likely be near the upper ranges mentioned, possibly exceeding $700,000 annually. After taxes, this could yield approximately $37,000 to $45,000 per month.

These are estimates and would be affected by factors such as bonuses, grants, additional income streams, state taxes, and individual financial circumstances.

You must be a shallow thinker. He is not leaving US because of gun violence. He probably leaving because he has gathered enough money to establish business in Nigeria which he believes will work better for him than US.
You can easily make money in US than Nigeria in most cases if you know what you are doing.

He can establish his medical practice here and thrive. If he hadn't lived and worked in the U.S, it would have been a lot more difficult to do that.
He cannot. Unless he is establishing it as a conduit for money laundering. His eye go soon clear when he sees the reality on ground that many many Nigerians cannot afford good health care. A friend from the US tried this, setting up a Dialysis practice. He shutdown operations within 3 years. This is for dialysis that should have considerable demand in Nigeria. People could not afford two to three times a week of dialysis. Musculoskeletal/Orthopedics is even worse

Medical doctors are suffering in America sha. You spend 15 years of your life studying and start working mid thirties in age with loans. That job you can only tolerate it for 30 years because of bureaucracy and always having to update your information and competing with young lions. So let’s say you have a high paying specialty that’s pays 500k a year for 30 years of work is 15 million lifetime salary. At such a high tax bracket and with your medical practice expenses let’s assume half of that 15 million is gone, you are left with only 7 million after 15 years of schooling and 30 years of working as a medical doctor in America meanwhile in naija here seyi tinubu will wear your whole life work on his wrist, 10 million dollar watch. No be juju be that ? This doctor want that seyi tinubu money 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
