By the time you take a look at the exchange rate and minimum wage, you will find out is not cheap. But the pace at which the naira is losing value and how cost of living is rising is so scary.

The worsening Naira exchange and downstream petroleum sector purifying corruption value have compounded this problem

I remember Texaco. Back then petrol stations were owned by exploration companies. Texaco was owned by Chevron, Mobil, Agip, shell total all had their downstream sectors thriving. Then 1 liter is 1 liter no adjustment of meters. Today u have different petrol stations with rigged meters selling low quality fuel capable of destroying ur engine.

NIGERIANS lived a much better life under the military era.
Education, Health, Security, Economy just name it.
Many of the major refinery's and projects including the Iconic third mainland bridge, NNPC towers, Aso Rock Villa, 2ND Niger Bridge General Hospitals etc. in Nigeria that stood the test of time were built by the military government.
And the construction of many of this projects mentioned above were completed timely.
The military literally turned Abuja filled with bushes and forests into a construction site.
No matter how we deny it, history never lies...almost all infrastructures in Nigeria were built by the military.
Democracy is good.
But in the case of Nigeria, our democracy have caused us more harm than good.

Why did you go back to a National Anthem that was composed in 1959 and it was first used in 1960 independence?

1985 = ₦5
2024 = ₦5x200 =₦1k per litre

So unless we do something...
2063 = ₦1kx200 =₦200k per litre grin

Anybody doubting this, would have also doubted in 1985 that fuel would rise to ₦1k in 2024. grin

More importantly, as far back as that time you could get a receipt for your purchase. Nigeria made sense until it stopped making sense and this mostly happened during IBB's Shege period. undecided

OP what does that teach us?

How many people were using automobiles then. No house had generators because electricity was constant but our past leaders failed to project and invest in the future when there would be more automobiles.

The militaries and the civilians ruined our economy.
IBB stole gulf windfall and late Gani Fawehinmi fought him to standstill . Abacha turned CBN to his personal bank. Then came in the civilians with insatiable appetite to steal.

Nigeria has had her better days.

A litre of fuel can never be sold at that price ever again. Cost of production has shot up.
Re: See Price Of 25 Litre Of Petrol In The Year 1985 (see Here) by Kelklein(m):
But today the highest denomination of our currency (1000) cannot buy a litre of fuel..

If as a leader, you are so drunken with power that you don't see these problems, then you don't deserve that title.. Shame on you.

As a leader of a country, your primary responsibility is to ensure that no citizen go to sleep on empty stomach.. but since this cursed leadership came into power, it's been hunger, agony and pains. It's been tales of woes. Fathers who can no longer meet up the responsibility of catering for their homes, millions losing their Jobs as factories and small businesses die, young people forced to quit their menial jobs because their meagre wage can no longer take them to and from work.

Woe betides you as a leader if you face Nigerians tomorrow and ask them for their forgiveness..
