Imagine that sleek ride taking you to and fro on a 24 hour safari journey... It's definitely going to be an experience.

Most Uber and Bolt cars on Lagos roads are just scrap. Majority of them use car models of 20 years old and above. I remember entering one Uber ride last month with a friend. The driver was using a 2003 camry big daddy. As we entered he told us not to be offended that his AC isn't working.

We just jejely came down from the car, canceled the ride and proceeded to book another ride. Imagine entering an Uber from Gbagada to Lekki2 on a hot Sunday afternoon and you want us to pay you almost 10k for a car without AC, isn't that robbery?

We need to learn how to do business in this country. Most business owners are just interested in making money with zero regard about the comfort of their customers. Forgetting that customers would pay more once their comfort is guaranteed.
Not holding brief for the dude running his vehicle without AC, however, Gbagada to Lekki 2 is a steal at 10k, even if AC dey work, e no suppose give you for that price.
Look at the naira equivalent of a full day trip, more than quarter of a million, how many Nigerians fit pay 100k for a full day??
I also run Uber at convenience, I've seen clients trying to talk me to take 40k for full day, one told me 30k to Ibadan, I just tell you I'm sorry, check someone else

Of course it should concern Nigerians.

Let's open our eyes 👀.

See how other countries are encouraging their citizens, businesses, livelihood, developing their economies.

This is a big plus for their tourism sector, you can see the type of investments it is pulling, these are ways of job creation

When have you heard of 1positive interest or innovation shown towards our Nigerian tourism sector?

Bro it's not a steal. I booked that journey last month before this current increment of fuel to over 1k per liter. And it was about N10,800. I uploaded the current price from my place to abijo lekki 2, it's over 15k. That's why we were mad when he told us that he's AC wasn't functioning.

To be honest, I do pity Uber drivers these days, cos they barely make anything reasonable.

During buhari's era, when fuel was still less than N200, I'll load my tank with 2k and it would take me from Abakaliki to Enugu to and fro. Today, that same amount isn't up to 2 liters.

The person who was pricing you 30k to Ibadan wanted to plunge you into debt. With the current price of fuel, if you had accepted that deal you would have discovered that you wouldn't have made a dime from it.

Edit: I finding it extremely difficult to upload the screenshot of the price I posted. It very disappointing that a website as big as Nairaland doesn't have an IT support system where issues like this can be handled.

Oops, my bad, you were referring to when fuel was 568 to 600, the price is cool then, although if it's a personal booking and not app, someone like me fit charge more, but for app ride, it's a fair fare, especially if there is little to no traffic
During Buhari, I won't go to Ibadan for less than 50k sef, but now minimum of 60k depending on destination.
Most times, people just factor fueling without considering other issues like maintenance of the vehicle.
NB: I don't fancy driving my vehicle without the AC working, I only turn it off if I've been under it for very long period or if I'm having an extremely bad rider that I want an all out with. I don't believe in turning off AC to save fuel.

OK I've been able to successfully upload the picture. Can you see the current price. It's above 15k. From. Gbagada to Abijoh.

Very true. One has to put other factors into consideration before giving out a price to customers so that if anything happens to the vehicle whatever he makes can be able to sort it out.

The last time I bought engine oil (mobile 1 synthetic) was some months back and it was about 80k. The funny thing is that it used to be around 30k in 2022.

So imagine charging a customer 50k for the trip and after coming back to Lagos, you discover that you'd need to change oil. What then. You did the right thing by turning down the offer.

About AC, if I'm driving in the morning like to church I do put it off cos mornings are usually very cold and there's AC in the church. But anything from afternoon during the scorching sun, my AC must be turned on. And if by any means I'm in an Uber, he's AC must he turned on as well.

I run my own Uber as business, not for survival, some are into it for survival so they don't care about the state of the vehicle, just to feed their mouth and buy clothes for owambe.
It is well my brother. Only God knows the song we go sing when another person reach there. This country matter don pass funny.
Btw, thanks for your time and cool response, some people fit don come for me with the first mention. I appreciate it. Enjoy independence and new month with good tidings.
