The problem with many Nigerians (both educated and uneducated) is that they lack critical thinking skills, by critical thinking I mean getting to the root cause of a problem. This protest should be about doing away with the current unitary (quasi federal) system we are running, as it is the cause of most of our woes as a nation. Tinubu's regime simply drained the swamp and we as a nation were caught swimming naked...the question we should be asking is how we got to where we are? what went wrong? Nigeria can be likened to an 8 cylinder engine in which only one of the cylinders is firing. A good mechanic should be asking what is that makes the other cylinders not to fire; no matter who the driver is or how many times you change the driver, that vehicle will never perform well. Nigeria itself as nation is one giant subsidy, it is a nation that runs on subsidies; ask yourself what is it that Sokoto, Borno, or Jigawa state contributes to nation's coffers? yet these same state expects to draw allocation from the federal government every month, same can be said for most of the other states - 36 states, 200 million people with zero or very little productivity, which means the FG is subsidizing almost all the 36 states, on top of that we expect cheap petrol, affordable power, good infrastructure, good tertiary institutions, etc, all with little or no tax.....it is impossible. As the saying goes, its a "pay me now or pay me later" kind of deal, at some point we will to come face to face with our demons. Truth is unlike developed nations that are structured for productivity and to complete in the global economy, Nigeria is simply structured to share oil money. When we truly become a productive nation the exchange rate of the Naira will strengthen (imagine hypothetically that 1 Naira = $1, you will not be crying about the price of petrol), food will be abundant, insecurity will reduce, and the overall quality of life will improve. great nations were built on the basis of hardwork, if we continue with this oil money sharing constitution we are operating nothing will change as a matter of fact thing wiil continue to worsen. |

Godwin4444:You know your father, I know my father, e reach Tinubu turn he hasn't said anything about his father and yet you guys are giving him full support... no one is saying Peter Obi is saint but to compare with Tinubu is too far apart.... I've not seen any politician in Nigeria with such a bad profile like Tinubu, he might not even be from Nigeria, that's how bad his own case is and you guys are supporting him.... You people don't even know him... |

They are demonstrating & expressing the minds of millions of people. In essence I am saying that these people here are speaking for us. Forget the fact that I am not there but my spirit is there. For any president that is serious, the public refineries would have started production since. And why does Tinubu think the the ambition of this entire country is worth the blood of any Nigerian? Does it mean Good luck Jonathan was a fool to have considered the reversal of subsidy removal? |

If Tinubu had known the multiplier effect of subsidy, it is monstrous for him to have taken such a draconian decision that has go along way to affect that very old woman in his village and even the babies that are still in their mother's womb. Why didn't he think of put a monitoring system to cut the dubious practices why working on a proper deregulation devoid of hardship? |
