I don't think Nigeria as had any seriouslike active charismatic leader in history, across board probably only fashola and maybe WIKE ( though he is too engrossed in politics). Most Nigerian leaders across board have always been drudgy docile men ,weaklings or wicked MEN. Nigeria as hardly produced any forthright, charismatic, serious leader of the mould of Thomas Sankara etc From governors to senators to presidents, they are always stoogelike, docile MEN, this as been a big problem across Africa in General. It's really a bad look on African men in general,it seems Africa has fewer choleric men than other races. Most African men are docile or simple extroverts, few determined serious men |

babasolution:The value system as a whole is the problem. Contrary to what Africans love to claim, we generally have a value system that does not work at all for our collective good. Even our so-called respect for family is not as good as we pretend. Don't get me started about our so-called traditional systems which have wrecked more havoc than good on the lives of many at the local level. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:What NONSENSE. Our traditional systems are what have kept us from falling apart in the face of your foreign adulation and slavery. It is because of our traditional system that we can rely on family members for support when we are financially down. Your oyinbo system says you are O.Y.O if you have nothing. At best the govt will pay you a monthly pittance just enough to keep you alive. Your oyinbo system says a woman can slap her husband at home, and call the police on him, to drive him away while she keeps the kids. Our traditional system says NO! A woman can have no such power. We are HAPPILY Africans. If YOU wish to be a white person, you know the way to their embassy. |

Kemetian:1. Nonsense! What foreign adulation and slavery? Look around you and see that what is currently destroying Nigeria today, even at the grassroots level comes from within and not from without. The very foundation on which society has stood to this point is finally giving way because it was never designed to handle civilization of the kind the world is experiencing and the kind we as a people agitate for. ![]() 2. 😂😂😂😂 Reliance on family is found among those who have close ties with their families and this applies to people everywhere in the world. That you experience it too simply means you have close family ties, not because you are a Nigerian or because of your local traditions. There are many others in your same village and Nigeria at large — Nigerians abroad not excluded—who don't have close family ties and would rather seek help from strangers than rely on those who they share blood with. This delusion that because you experience it, then everyone else should is the self-centered reason that never works out for any people. ![]() I bet it also never occurred much to you before you made the statement regarding people relying on family that there are orphans — without family ties of any sort — in your very communities and villages. These people are everywhere and their numbers are not small considering the low mortality rate in Africa. The problem is that they are generally traditionally ignored; traditional systems in Africa generally pretend these people don't exist and so their welfare is completely ignored right from the grassroots level. So, any wonder why at the LG, State, and National level, there are barely any programs available to care for them? There are so many things traditionally wrong with the value system in Nigeria. ![]() 3. That has never been true of the Western culture I know and millions have lived in. As I was discussing with someone the other day, it dawned on me how so much better the Oyinbo style is towards those who have nothing; these people are generally looked down on or completely ignored in your traditional setups in Nigeria. If you wish I can reintroduce those facts here for you to see for yourself. ![]() 4. A woman is equal to a man and that is a fact. Why is a tradition that subjugated a woman any better? The human development indices are clear to everyone that such traditions do not offer value to the lives of all people in the society, so why would you hang on to that which is broken just because? ![]() 5. You are happily Africa yet Africa. Is the poverty capital of the world.. Clearly, you are no longer thinking right. ![]() |

A first year sociologist and anthropologist will tell you in his sleep that African and Asian family ties are far stronger and substantive than the western. Even a 3 minute Google search will school you. I bet it also never occurred much to you before you made the statement regarding people relying on family that there are orphans — without family ties of any sort — in your very communities and villages. If they ignore orphans in your village, don't conclude it happens across the continent. How dare you? 3. You are a brainwashed, ignorant cretin, to say that the poor are ignored in traditional African society, firstly because in traditional African society THERE WERE NO POOR PEOPLE. Here's an excerpt regarding the Ancient Benin Kingdom. from the UK Guardian newspaper. This was a Benin operating its traditional religion. ''Benin City was also one of the first cities to have a semblance of street lighting. Huge metal lamps, many feet high, were built and placed around the city, especially near the king’s palace. Fuelled by palm oil, their burning wicks were lit at night to provide illumination for traffic to and from the palace. When the Portuguese first “discovered” the city in 1485, they were stunned to find this vast kingdom made of hundreds of interlocked cities and villages in the middle of the African jungle. They called it the “Great City of Benin”..... Indeed, they classified Benin City as one of the most beautiful and best planned cities in the world. In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon; all the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.” In contrast, London at the same time is described by Bruce Holsinger, professor of English at the University of Virginia, as being a city of “thievery, prostitution, murder, bribery and a thriving black market made the medieval city ripe for exploitation by those with a skill for the quick blade or picking a pocket”. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace .................... 4. Many western men are sick of their own women and are seeking partners from Russia and Asia who still behave like women. 5. You are happily Africa yet Africa. Is the poverty capital of the world..
