No African country has gained "true independence", what we have is "political independence" from Western colonizers, because the impact of Western influence on our economies, politics, and cultures is still significant. Economic dependence on Western aid and loans, reliance on foreign investment, and participation in international organizations are just a few examples.
So what are we celebrating? Political independence? Nigerians wey dey US suppose know say their country never gained anything like independence, but e be like say dem forgot their senses for Naija.

Infact, the church I attend here is doing a big independence day celebration on this coming Sunday, and all plans are in top gear.
