1. Ironic? Are you shitting me? You think the growing need of an aging population coupled with that of the many sick in our systems — people now live longer than before—can be reasonably classified as ironic?

2. If citizens do not take up positions in the UK, it simply means opportunities for immigrants. In the U.S.A., many citizens work these jobs — some for decades — and are confident in their abilities to care for the sick. But the numbers of old, sick, and infirmed continue to rise each year leading to the need to look outside of the U.S.A. if necessary to fill these needs. What in the world is wrong with that for Pete's sake?

I am overjoyed whenever children of immigrant acquaintances, including 9ja, get into uni to do STEM and other valued courses like law.

I taught some of those kids for free in my free time. To overcome science and maths challenges. Today, they are contributing and making us proud. Many of their parents didn't go to uni and did all manner of jobs to raise the kids.

Yes NHS. What she seeks is that same opportunity for immigrants beyond the NHS. Many Nigerians have had to "port" from other spheres to that sector because it is where opportunities avail the most. Her point is not that complex.
