Lot of Nigerians want to know pros and cons of installing cng kit in their cars. For the benefit of all let me share few points I believe should be considered.

CNG gas is said to cost N230 per kg when it finally rolls out - Presidency. Compared to petrol fuel (PMS), now almost sold @ 600 per litre.

Negatives:

The N230 reduction on cng fuel is actual saving of just N370 considering...

1) installation cost,

2) hassel of refuling overr 150-180kms,

3) increased maintenance cost as cng requires frequent air filter change and throttle body cleaning,

4) loss of luggage space

5) risk of cng cylinder = bomb on board

6) loss of power


However you should also know positives as well to take an informed decision...

1) 1kg cng give over 26kmp/kg

I heard to convert to CNG is about 800k and I heard just 4 liters of the CNG can takes you from Lagos to ibadan. Don't know how true is it thou
