Ice fish is now a luxury. Imagine 4k for small ice fish. Chai. Medium size yam is 4k and above. just to cook common yam porridge or soup you will spend up to 10k to 15k. This country is now bastardised.

His governor said "subsidy is gone," which led to the incessant fuel price hike with its attendant scarcity, leading to exorbitant transport fares and the high cost of basic food items like fish,yam, tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc.
 
His governor also floated the naira, which led to the devaluation of the naira. Today, the naira is exchanging for over N1,600 to a dollar. 
 
His governor engaged in other calamitous economic policies that have led to a high inflation rate and others that have negatively impacted the lives of the people.

Why not just secure a land and start farming on it? You can also rear tilapia fish if you want.

You need to be innovative if you can't survive this present hardship.

Most of yall shouting farming , is farming easy, is everyone a landowner , what about the ones who already have a job ? Other countries are encouraging them youth in ICT ,defense , Technological advancement, engineering , finance , healthcare and mechanised farming but we're here gaslighting our fellow Nigerians with the words said by those vagabonds in power

Leave them alone, if they even know the cost of fertilizer, pesticide, farm tools and farm labors now, they will know farming Is not a child's play.We always look for cheap alternatives till we find ourselves in this quagmire,even cheap alternatives are now expensive.

If everything is expensive and farming is not easy and you cannot make effort to do anything yourself, then buy the expensive product like that and don't complain! Is it a must to apply fertiliser before farming? Our lands are naturally fertile and you can farm the same land 3years running before it will need fertiliser. And you can make your own manner, just use Google as a guide. Continue feeding your laziness and paranoia while slowly starving to death!

Awesome, you want to everyone to go into farming on a subsistence scale right? How do you intend to feed yourself and family on a subsistence scale for a whole calender year?
The bottomline is farming is expensive no matter how you try to distort the fact and subsistence/backyard farming can't get us out of this quagmire, you can't farm all you eat on a subsistence scale,to do these you need a large expanse of land and you can't rely on crude and organic fertilizers alone, you need to hire manual labour or get mechanize farming equipment and these things don't come cheap.I am a part time farmer (livestock farming) and I know quite some crop farmers so I know what it cost to run a farm.

Half bread, they say, is better than none sir. Even if is a small plot you can do to grow the beans or rice you need for just one month, do it if you are not being paid for your time and effort elsewhere.

Oga farming is a partial way out of it(partially). Better than iaing N30k to transport to go and earn N50k.
