Mercenaries have their negative sides . They can be bribed and become lenient or intentionally slow down so that their contracts will be reviewed.

When we have an army we are paying? Don’t even try mercenaries.

The problem with hiring meceneries is they become a power in their own right. In fact the history of boko haram is connected to the arming of political thugs. We have seen what has happened with foreign mercenaries in the Sahel supposedly fighting terrorists.

The Nigerian army are quite capable of dealing with our security challenges given the right backing and political will. They are already recording successes in the North West.

I don’t trust western mercenaries (US France etc) and the Israelis and Russians (official armies) are engaged in their own issues or likely not to sit down well for different reasons. Imagine the implication of sending Israeli mercenaries at a time when Israel is bombing the Muslim world or sending Russian mercenaries at a time when people are hoisting Russian flags during a protest?

Our soldiers are doing well, they just need more support financially and logistics wise

Northerners expecially poor Muslims abuse marrying of four wives to breed poverty and manufacture alimonjiris that are mostly recruited by bandits and bokoharam. If you want Nigeria to hire, northern elders should setup special endowment for that purpose and not from common Nigeria money. Northerners themselves take the lead in financing hired fighters.

i think it is sad that a country with an army of its own would need to resort to hiring mercenaries to do work and army should be more than capable of but so long as they are not from the Eastern and Western African region, OK!

Winning what battle? When? They showed you pictures of 3 or 4 bandits they killed in a month out of more than 2000 groups, and somehow you declare they are winning the battle? Think carefully about this declaration of yours abeg!

People like you make me laugh. You insult others but actually know nothing yourself. "Noble suggestion" from who exactly and to what ends? Do you know Ndume's history and that of many Northern leaders political leaders who continue to Taqiyah gullible Nigerians like you into believing they are seeking solutions when they are a big part of the problem?

This is rubbish from the deceitful Ndume who has his own agenda of deception. Use the link below to read El Rufai 2022 talk where he states that our security forces know where bandits are and even listen to their conversion. El Rufai has serially asserted these bandits can be wiped out quickly.

Buhari failed to act. Conclusion is obvious. For whatever reasons known to him, Buhari would not back the action to deal with bandits decisively. Same is true for majority of Northern political, religious and cultural leaders.

Foreign mercenaries are not needed to achieve what Nigerian army can in even 2 months if backed completely by the powers-that-be in the North. The whereabouts and hideouts of the bandits are known.

Our security agencies even listen to them and can take them out if the order is given. Yet such order will never come because those sponsoring bandits and terrorists are the same throwing you a bone now and then to distract you and keep insecurity a thriving business they gain from financially and politically.

Banditry and terrorism ends in the North when Northern political, religious and cultural leaders genuinely commit to doing what it takes to end them.
