It's very clear that this so called business leaders have no vision and plans to help businesses grow. How can you ban a business that creates employments, instead of assisting and finding ways to sustain and give a well environmental business place. Well those who built houses and got boreholes water for taxes. |

So, you ban pure water and bottled water but leave bottled drinks. So what do we drink when we are thirsty? Bottled drinks? What about all the people employed by water companies? What do they do? And the companies themselves, do they shut down or what? This is dead on arrival. |

odimbannamdi:Have you seen the reusable plastics now being used for food takeaways? Please ask about them. They are even cheaper and more attractive than the SUP previously in use. The same can be adopted for bottled water and they can be collected back like cway does for reuse and/ or recycling. |

c3cc:apart from employment, pure water has a filled a void the government failed to fill. providing water is the responsibility of government but it has failed to do its job. some people filled the void and the government wants to stop them from doing the job. any alternative to pure water....NO |

The government would not need to enact such anti-people law if portable water was easily accessible to each household and submission of plastic bottles for recycling is rewarded. Pure water will just die a natural death! |

FreeStuffsNG:“ The bottled water can come in cheap reusable plastics while sachet water will suddenly become more expensive so the stakeholders now earn more margins as more people move to bottled water”. I cannot understand this thinking please. You move from satchets and PET bottles to reusable plastics? What’s the difference in terms of the sane environmental degradation talked about please? Would the same reusable plastics not find themselves to the same drainages and streets in the end? PET bottles are common practices worldwide, with people of more advanced countries still in the businesses of purchasing clean and safe water. The problem does not have to do with the plastics or satchets, but the mindset of the citizens. When people are not hygiene conscious, you must work to change that first, otherwise the societies remain the same. If there are serious punishments against those who pollute the environments, then you can have some peace, knowing that you did the job. Again, where will people get safe and clean water from, knowing that most areas do not have it? Government must ensure that the citizens are connected with water, pay their charges and get supplied. |

Olatara:one thing you should know is that both bottled water and pure water are same. With same production. If you are not taking "Nestle bottle" water. Then any other bottle water you are taking is as same as pure water. Even eva bottle water are now producing fake. |

Instead of banning, why not go on full recycling, employee people to get the waste instead just leaving it for gbola (scavengers) |

A state that cannot boast of portable water wants to ban bottled water and pure water. I am sure some clowns are somewhere hailing Sanwo-Olu led government for such stupid ideas. |
| Re: Lagos Government Bans Pure Water From January 2025 by HeadNigga: 9:28pm On Oct 03, 2024 |
FreeStuffsNG:here is my suggestion. Bottles are not constituting nuisance because you pay deposit before you are allowed to leave with bottle when you buy coke, fanta, beer. If you don't return the bottle your deposit is gone. That is why Nigerians don't litter everywhere with bottles. It goes back to the company. Let the pure water/bottles water companies be compelled by the government to do this instead of outright ban. |

Honestly waste and indiscriminate disposable is a major problem in Lagos, and about the main cause of flood in the state. However, providing portable drinkable and usable water should be the starting point. As much as waste management is a problem, so much more is the lack of portable water in most homes, and not addressing this is a recipe for disaster if this ban continues. Does the government expect the families struggling to feed to all have water dispensers at home? Since they can’t survive without water, they will revert to whatever “water” they find, and the outcome… your guess is as good as mine. |

FreeStuffsNG:You have left me more confused than you met me. I have asked you for more information, but you have told me to go figure it out myself. You cannot compare the concept of reusability of packaging materials in the edible food industry to that in the water industry. Dispensable reusable water containers are suitable for relaxed environment like homes, hotels, banks, etc. How do you expect water to then be sold in fast-paced environments like market places, traffic jams, etc? Do you expect people to walk about with reusable water containers? What about the risk of contamination of these containers? Is it easier to wash and disinfect reusable food containers than water bottles? We stand a risk of having an outbreak of water-borne diseases here The government is set to ban SUPs in less than 4 months time, but there is no suitable alternative in place. By the time they implement the ban, they will only succeed in creating a black market for that industry where things will only become more expensive and task force will extort companies indiscriminately. |

I think the government is tired of government cause what is the meaning of this rubbish...they seem to have an aim to kill off the poor in the land. Every single policy they keep dishing out at federal, state and local level is aimed at killing poor people. |

FreeStuffsNG:I don't understand why you are always añti people. How do you support banning of sachet water that cares for the poor, downtrodden and hoi polloi. These are set of people that are at lower rung of the society that can't afford expensive Bottle waters when thirsty. The business also takes care of the unemployed who delved into the business. There is limit you can support a Government even though you belong to the political party. When they derail, you draw their attention so that they could review such policy. Unilag products are known to fight for right of peoples and that's why their names are usually etched in the Board Room of Fame. Sowore is a living example. Therefore, as ex student you are not towing the footpath of the school their products are known for. You have BETRAYED the founding fathers of famous Akokite! |
