Lol.

My theory is that they let themselves go because there's no one to show off to anymore. Most poor people in Nigeria show off to each other with the most expensive wigs.

When they japa, there is nobody they know to show off to anymore. That's why they do all-back, thread. Styles that they'll never do in Nigeria. They just stop caring.

Don’t blame them. Most people living in the UK are just happy they left Nigeria, they’re not happy in real life.
How can they when their minds are still stuck in Nigeria... it never left. undecided

Beleive me she is right, even in canada here, most Nigerian women i see look homeless and not even good to look at, i still remember how nice looking they’e back home and i wonder which kind of women came here
A Nairalander stated something about temperate weather and the black skin. It does no good to the skin of black women.

What a pity!

cheesy

I thought women are fond of saying that they dress nicely and apply makeup just to look good for themselves and to see how best they can appear at all times, so whats this one saying?

An only women world would be a sorry sight to Nature
Don't mind those ones deceiving themselves. It is for admiration from men.

She's right ... and not only in the UK. She's really on point ... especially with the money conversion thing. I also believe this happens more with those who are stuck in their "back home" communities... their own culture... not trying to adapt.
The money conversion could be as a result of the loans they obtained and their plans to return to Nigeria in the next few years. I believe many will move back within the next few years. Also, they might look so haggard because no domestic servants as abundant in Nigeria, yet they have to work standard working hours. Unlike the native women who have fewer children, are child-free and isn't bothered with exchange rates in affording the services to make life easy, our women don't have those options.

In summary, japa is not for everyone, especially for a gender that is very hypergamous, yet isn't in its dominant environment.

A blood sister of mine in 'amelika' asked me to lend her 200k about 4 months ago.
Till today she has only paid back half of it.

So they’re also busy converting the currency to its naira equivalent, like we do here.

Sapa, nice one.

This is where you understand the influence of mind conditioning (mindset of lack and that of abundance).

Some of us are so used to lack that even necessary things seem like wastefulness, and end up spending on actual wasteful things.
All that glitters ain't gold!

She's right...but the major thing be say...black girls in the UK are too beautiful. Our girls too like swallow and Nigerian foods that makes them look disfigured. Who wan leave UK born blacks go follow hustler that came with the same mindset as the men to look for nothing else than money.

U need to see our girls for place of work, they want to behave like oyibo. They ignore the guys dem even though u fit recommend them to ur guys. If any Naija japa girl marry here...na luck or the realm of the spirit help am. the married naija japa women looseguard their bodies and look like bag...shapeless...no effort to look good. They eat swallow like their life depend on it
I am curious, why do they ignore Black African men? Or is it just Nigerian men? What about Black British men? Also, do they have high hopes that white British men will marry them in large numbers?

Another reason married naija men want to cheat be say...
Cheating is expensive anywhere, especially in a place that is not your dominant environment. So, why are our men interested in cheating? Is it that easy/affordable to maintain extramarital affairs in the UK as a Nigerian man?

This is very very very very true! You come across some of them they don't look happy living in the UK, their skins are dry, their faces looks old, they wear smelly wigs, some of them looks like they have not washed for days, they complain that their jobs are stressful and difficult and they have to get up early to go to work and they also say it is very cold and It is not even in the winter yet.
To be honest though, apart from taking care of children and using crude tools in daily chores, life is way easier and simpler for most Nigerian women in Nigeria. Also, the weather contributes as it is your natural environment. Moving to a place that is temperate most of the year would be harsh to the skin and difficult to the mind.

If e tire them, let them return to Nigeria. There is a reason there are more African Americans residing in near-tropical states in the US even with Jim Crow histories than in the northern parts. A few years ago, there was a report that many AAs in northern states moved back to the south. The black skin is best suited for the sun.

Genetics cannot be defeated.

I can attest to this...I went for a UK wedding. Let us just say, few might as well take off their dresses cos everything was already hanging out. I know US ladies can be wild when going to clubs, but dressing like this at a wedding and being part of the bridal train...that was a little too much but I had to just blend...cos wetin concern me. Na someone's daughter...maybe they are desperately looking for a man lol.
Prevalent in Nigeria as well. Worse in some places than others.

What does equality have to do with this? They want men that are culturally similar

Cultural similarity is understandable. But why do modern women want men who provide? Or at least be the biggest provider? This is aside from the topic at hand. I don't believe it is morally right that modern women seek modern rights yet insist on traditional privileges.
