The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his frustration with the actions of the Nigerian police, particularly the Inspector General Of Police over the upcoming Local government election.. He accused the IGP of attempting to take over the RSIEC premises as he warned that any further attempts to barricade the office would be met with resistance.


He emphasized that the elections would proceed as planned, despite any obstacles or intimidation tactics employed by the police. He assured the people of Rivers State that he would stand firm in defense of their rights and interests, even if it means confronting the IGP personally.

He said in an interview with Symfoni TV, ''What kind of a country is it? And when it comes to the issue of river state, it becomes different. Are you not ashamed of yourself. You call yourself IGP of the Nigeria police. Enough is enough. Enough is enough. I will be here. In fact, if I go back and I hear that anybody tries to come back to the RSIEC office, I will come here.

The RSIEC is my property and you don't have any power whatsoever to bar me from entering it. Yes. Just try it. It will be part of your history as a very wicked IGP for shooting Fubara. Yes. I think I've given you enough respect. Let me say to all Rivers state indigenes that elections will hold. Anything that wants to happen, let it happen. We are here and we are not afraid of anybody.''
