Even some Catholic Churches in Nigeria have copied Pentecostal to start paying it.

Tithes is for Levites, like those poor, homeless Catholic Monks.
Not for a Pastor who already has Filling station, Bakery and Private school.

In the old testament God established a nation and arrangement a system of taxation for them to care for the tribe God Himself said should not be given an inheritance, for widows, orphans and stranded travelers.
So by the time Christianity was commissioned by Jesus the nation of Israel was no longer under God's rule they had been colonized by a pagan nation under which they were to pay TAX so TITHE became unwarranted as system of worship no longer requires the service of Levites, each Christian is commanded to cater for the poor ones in the congregation but as for those in service for God's work they are doing it freely not for personal gain!

Adeboye is nothing but a fraudster no different from the average Nigerian politician. In the video, he is seen claiming he could prove that an idea can be both wrong and right. He then proceeds to suggest it used to be true that light travels in a straight line, however as a result of what he claimed was the discovery that light was comprised of waves, the statement no longer holds. To bolster his claim, he indicated that he was a Scientist. Unfortunately, it seems many of his gullible followers fell for that con of his.

Well, for those who are not aware, light does still travel in a straight line. A bit of a Google search of this would reveal that the discovery that light consisted of waves took place many decades before Adeboye himself was born(see image below for more on the history of the discovery). Both the experiment and mathematical proof of light consisting of waves— particles that moved in wavelike motion— were provided back in the early 1800s. Mr. Adeboye was being quite disingenuous when he pretended that the discovery was a recent one. Science has accepted for over 200 years at this point that light is made of wave-like particles, and yes, light travels in a straight line unless it encounters an obstacle that causes it to bend, reflect, or refract. There is nothing right and wrong about this idea or statement as suggested by Adeboye in his non-apology apology.

✓ Technically Adeboye lied about tithing, which means he may have lied about other things before
And the Bible did say "thou shall not lie", this means Adeboye does not have the spiritual authority to continue in his capacity, he has lied once, he could have lied a lot more, including drinking tea with God that he claimed and also seeing his mansion.
What's more bewildering are those who will still defend him, saying it takes a lot to come clean, neglecting he lied just for his own selfish interest and gains.
This brings us to the conclusion that, many Nigerian pastors are scammers, including the subject topic

Thats cos he is more vast and knowledgeable than most who look up to him for teachings on the word and interpretation of the word as relate to issues of everyday people. He isnt perfect and like everyone elae is gradually moving toward perfection.

Posters over the years, have talked over thoroughly, this tithe topic,
All in order to reach all, so all reach a good decision and/or better understanding of giving,
of which views or arguments put forward concerning taxed, obligatory or imposition tithe no longer holds water

Offerings are OT old school things
and Jesus Christ has given the ultimate offering saving you from having to give any other
You actually give contribution(s) or donation(s) is what you correctly do
Of course freely giving works for anyone

If you have intimate knowledge of Jesus' modus operandi,
you wouldnt be using that single incident as a one-size-fits-all approach for every believer
