I think the freight forwarders are probably angry because government policies have rightly led to a reduction in destructive importation.

The man knows what he was saying. The government is a joker. You cannot cannot replace Customs from revenue collection because of the technicality involved.
The expert consultant of the government is just a theorist.

One of the reasons Nigerians don't pay tax is because they don't really see what the government does with the tax except for living lavishly

I am not a fan of Tinubu.

But he has my support for this. This will block all revenue leakages.

He should also go ahead and dismantle Federal government press which is a conduit pipe for stealing Government funds. Nothing is happening there but all revenue accruing to the agency are hopelessly mismanaged and brazenly stolen.

It's pathetic such an agency with core mandate to produce gazettes and sensitive Government materials have been neglected and left in the hands of greedy officers and moles.

II will vote Mr President in 2027 if this bill is passed and implemented. I am not a fan of Mr President but every sane Nigerian should support this bill.

Is it not better that Alpha Beta takes only 10% and remits 90% to the government, than for customs officers to take 90% and remit just 10% to the federal government? Using professional agencies to handle revenue collection and compensating them with a percentage of the total revenue collected can help combat corruption. If that's Tinubu's intention, it seems like a positive step in the right direction.

Things will surely be better if the revenue base of the nation is put under perfect control like other advanced nations

If you go to Abuja VIO for example ,they collect cash from motorists in their office without issuing any receipt .. this is too egregious and unacceptable. The Govt should look into this area too

The staff are idle and doing nothing. Tinubu should immediately do something about the agency which is now a conduit in pipe in siphoning money. The Agency is under Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

This is a brilliant move by President Tinubu. It will help streamline revenue collection and ensure that every taxable entity pays its due.

Not just that. All the agency collect taxes and think they own the money. Many take 70 - 90% of revenue collection and others take all of it and ask government for salary. But the bill will heighten bribery and corrupt public service officers. Many people don’t even feel painful economy because of corruption and extra money.
