Winning LGA elections doesn't necessarily guarantee longevity as a governor. Some govs had their stooges installed as LGA officials but still lost reelection. It's still a part of the whole sum of other factors.

True in lagos even if it seems Tinubu is the godfather and still makes the decision he doesn't make it seem so.There is still the governing advisory council who makes the decisions and it doesn't look like one man takes all the decisions unlike rivers state everyone bows to wike and the masses hate that.This is where lagos is different.

There are several factors you have ignored.Lets put them in perspective.

You must compare the political depth of Wike and Tinubu? They aren't in the same class at all.I am not a Tinubu supporter but you will agree with me that Tinubu had started playing politics since the days of Nadeco.Wike is just a Jonathan boy that had providence worked for him in PDP to rise as the governor.


Lagos state is different from Rivers in terms of culture inclination.The Yoruba are the most dominant tribe there.One obvious feature of their culture is respect for elders and their opinions especially those with influences.The reverse is the case in Rivers.You can't enjoy that loyalty for a long time because the culture impliedly supports autonomous existence in the circle of community .
The timing of their adminstration .Ambode has exhausted almost 80 percent of his time which his results worked against him.He literally stopped LAWMA and brought a private waste management firm which made Lagos more dirty.He brought the land use charge which will increase house rent.Fubara just resumed office and he is enjoying some emotional backings hinge on Wikes seemingly overbearing political godfather activities.This will work for Fubara and he needs to sustain it by being very productive in his governance agenda.

Tinubu structure is more stronger than what Wike has best the culture supports it.The Agbero system in Lagos is under the effective control of Tinubu.They became the delegates for the state primaries which ousted Ambode .

In conclusion, it's very important to assemble the above facts to understand why it's was very very difficult for Ambode to do the same Fubara is doing.

Results were written prior to the election, but since Wike isn't involved, una say na democracy.

You can’t compare the situation under Ambode to Fubara own. Tinubu and his Lagos boys got the whole political structure of Lagos on a total lockdown for them. Ambode couldn’t do anything in all honesty. The state house of assembly would impeach him immediately

Ambode was NEVER a politician and had no constituency that would evolve organically into a structure, recall Tinubu had dug into Lagos politically for over 2 decades and was going to be difficult to dislodge...all those he appointed as Governors learned anything near politics under him and he is much wiser, patient and subtle than wike who is perpetually under the influence of Alcohol 🍸

Only Ambode can tell us why he choose not to fight. If he did, he would most probably have won! PDP reached out to him the period, offering him, platform, experience and cover. APC’s counter to dat was impeachment should Ambode decamp, which to me is weak! Cos PDP controlled the federal government, the police and the court. Impeachment for no work. Why didn’t Ambode decamp? It’s still a mystery to me!

He did a big mistake by going to Abuja. That was the same mistake that Ibikunle Amosun made. Tinubu had all the chances of going to hold a position in Abuja, but he resisted. Some of his mates became Senator and lost their home ground.

Let’s see if Tinubu will help Wike to hold the structure
