The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has been declared winner of the election conducted in all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Richard Tombowua, announced the results of the election at exactly 9:16am, on Sunday.

Tombowua also declared the APC winner of all councillorship seats in 276 council wards across the state, leaving none for other parties.

He said although a total of eight political parties participated in the exercise, only five were active.

They are All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Alliance Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

However, the BSIEC followed directives from the parties’ apex leadership in accepting the lists of candidates who participated in the polls.

The BSIEC chairman praised the conduct of the elections, saying it was free, fair and credible without any issues.

He added that it was the best ever local government exercise carried out in the history of the state.

Tombowua asked the winners should come to the commission’s headquarters at 2pm on Sunday for their certificate of return.

I don't know how I feel about this, APC shouldn't be winning elections considering the the untold hardship they've brought upon nigerians

This is why INEC should be given the power to conduct Local Government elections in Nigeria, the state electoral bodies are at the beck and call of the governors

Wow! What a free and fair election.

Incase you don't know.

A Free and fair election is defined as an election that is favourable to the government that funds or appoints the chairman of the electoral body that organized and conducted the election.

This is to say that:

THE Edo State Local Government Council Elections conducted by The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) under Obaseki where the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all the chairmanship positions in the 18 Local Government Areas that make up the state was a free and fair election.

THE Edo State Governorship Election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under President Tinubu where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate won was a free and fair election

THE Rivers State Local Government Council Elections conducted by The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISIEC) under Fubara where his party (APP) won all the chairmanship positions in the 23 Local Government Areas that make up the state was a free and fair election.

LGA elections are simply selection... No sane opposition party should spend a Kobo in LGA elections.

So it is your considered opinion that if these elections were conducted by INEC, APC will not win despite being at the helm of affairs at the federal level?

Useless criminal party that is know for their crookedness. They can cheat like never before. Tinubu’s hardship can never permit anyone with commonsense to vote or even think of A Party of Crooks (APC). No reason to even hear APC and not look for stones, bricks and big sticks to deal with the bandits.

Nobody is condemning State Electoral bodies under the armpit of Govs but they condemn INEC under federal government.

Just months before guber election in Edo State, Obaseki PDP had just won all the chairmanships and councillorship positions in the council polls including in the Edo North of oshomhole.

Wasn't it amazing that Obaseki couldn't repeat this feat some months after in the guber election?

Obaseki had boasted about his popularity and that of PDP in the state claiming that APC doesn't exist in the state.

I wish Fubara well in Rivers but one thing I know is that he's a one term Gov.

APP is now popular than LP. It's okay, time will tell but I know that Fubara will be a one term Gov by the time PDP and APC combined against him, he would not get 10,000 votes.
