Christianity will be confusing to those who don't have the spirit to discern

Bishop Oyedepo said something today remarkable from today's sermon cause I streamed the 2nd service live from Ota

He was quoting Jesus in John 6 vs 63 which stated that flesh profits nothing but the spirit gives Life

St Paul also stated in 2 Corinthians 3 that the letter killeth but the spirit gives Life

Bishop Oyedepo stated that many people follow just the written verses in the bible but didn't get the spirit of the text which is what gives Life.

So Christianity is confusing to those who don't get the understanding from spirit in the Bible text they are quoting

Like Adeboye said those convinced and those not convinced

I personally I am convinced concerning tithe paying

Even if everyone disagrees
I have a personal conviction with my God

I have paid tithes of very good money to my church
And I will continue to do so

Everyone and his belief
That is your personal conviction which does not in anyhow makes you a favourite to God nor anyone. Just your own personal conviction. The problem is that we are being wired to accept guilt. It is the guilt in you.

You see you guys are modern Pharisees. Not an offense, you can check what the Pharisees does and the way you practice.

Like you rightly said, it is your own money. You can decide to be giving 90% to your pastor and keeping 10% for yourself. Where it becomes a problem is telling people to practice or believe in such teachings. It is criminal in the sight of man and God.

Wish you well and regards

You don’t want to be cornered by fools.
You try to open their eyes and talk sense to their heads, they will tag you an evil person and even hate you.
They love their oppressor.

And many of them are equally evil, but just foolish… the reason they pay tithe is because of the evil buried deep in them. They rather pay tithe than help someone in need because they believe “tithe is working for them”
Is that not the height of human selfishness?

Big pentecostal pastors in Nigeria are the real people that exposed the scams in the nonsense called church. Their greed and insatiable desire for wealth is beyond redemption. Hence the need to find ways to bastardise the gospel and bring it to complete disrepute, shame and worthlessness. Adeboye, Oyedepo, suleiman, eneche, ibiyome and other upcoming dogs are the grandmasters

Actually it is not criminal

The bible warned us that false prophets will come
Even Christ said it

So it's left for individuals to know there doctrine very well

True there are pastors, priests that are deceiving people

You shouldn't forget that we humans are free willed beings

God gave Man freedom to chose whatever he wants

Even in old testament God told Israel I place before you Life and death

If any religious institution leader commits crime
The government should go after them

Finally also note that even in civilized society where there's rule of law like in the US UK Canada EU Singapore South Korea etc they have religious institutions that Also collect these kinds of giving

So even those civilized societies practice such
And in those civilized societies they scrutinize everything and if the leaders messes up they face the law

I know cases of Pastors and ministers in the US that went to jail
Likewise I know cases in South Korea and Singapore where pastors where jailed

So I personally believe there should be balance and discretion in doing these things

nothing is confusing about the Bible at all. If you were ever to read the book the same way and mind you would read other books with, you would realize that your confusion never came from the book but from your holding on to religion while attempting to read the book. undecided

I understand your perception of what you think the church should be in contrast to what it is today. However, it's important to recognize that your view of what is "right" is shaped by the indoctrination, moral, and cultural influences you were raised with.

Since the Roman Catholic Church was established in 325 AD at the behest of the emperor, there have been conflicts over its doctrines. Those who opposed the new teachings were often labeled heretics, excommunicated, or even killed. This division continued for centuries, even after figures like Martin Luther formed the Lutheran Church in protest of the church's practices that diverged from biblical teachings.

The Roman Catholic Church was created as a system for the benefit of the government, not necessarily to preach Christ, as evangelized out of Egypt. They tampered with the message, the character, created their own doctrines, and forced all to accept them. Fortunately, we know enough to definitively say that the Roman Catholic Church wasn’t serving the people’s needs, but rather the government’s agenda and their own greed.

The Roman Empire fell for the church to reign for hundreds of years after, and it was keen on demanding tributes and killing in the name of God as they have been, even today, the Vatican as a location and her artifacts are testaments to the bloodiness of the Catholic Church.

Another uncomfortable truth is that the Church played a significant role in approving the rise of slavery and has been a key player in many wars throughout history, which speaks to her hypocrisy.

Much like the Lutheran, Anglican, and Pentecostal churches, each was created based on differing views of Christianity. What we must recognize is that it’s human beings, influenced by their societal and cultural backgrounds, who shape church doctrines. It’s not the Bible which is littered with discrepancies or the Holy Spirit that defines what is right, as we can see from the countless variations in Christian practices, doctrines, and beliefs today.

Within the Islamic Faith, there exists different sects. It's easier to summarise another until you go deeper.
I understand where you're coming from and acknowledge the painful truths about the Roman Catholic Church's history, including its ties to political power, involvement in slavery and wars. But well Sha... it's still important to also recognize the positive impact Christianity as a religion has had on the world.

For billions of people, Christianity has provided comfort, hope, and solace. It has inspired countless acts of selflessness, charity, and compassion. The moral framework it provides has guided individuals toward justice, equality, and love.

So Let's acknowledge both the flaws and benefits of religion and continue exploring these complex issues.

That is it. The false prophets are people you guys are religiously following. Did you know when Christ warned about the false prophets? That was more than 2000years ago. Yes, these modern pastors that are not Cgriat-Like deserves to be jailed.

Christ salvation is no longer preached. Did Christ taught his disciples or anyone that followed him about tithe? Did he? Anything not Christ like should be frown upon. Moses made the law about tithes to the Isrealites(Abel gave offering).

It is criminal in front of God and man to practice or preach what Christ NEVER represented.

I think it was this week that a boy was flogged mercilessly for allegedly stealing church money however there's a twist to the story, the one who stole the sizable chunk of the money later confessed but the deeds have been done already, this shows you that money matters is not something these man take for granted, as for salvation and evangelism, those ones can come later.

Shameful.
Your comment had summarized everything.

Corrections:
What happens to the poor Christians in the church? Should those ones be ignored or should go and die while the Money be given to just anybody around?
The concept of tithing and zakat encourages the financially strong to support the weak, without the limitation that wealthy Christians should only help fellow Christians, and the same applies to Muslims.

However, have you ever wondered about the substantial amount of money that goes to churches annually? And more importantly, how many Christians genuinely benefit from these funds? It seems that instead of using this money to support disadvantaged Christians, it's often utilized to expand church businesses or acquire extravagant items. A recent example involves a pastor receiving a luxurious Rolls-Royce. If these funds were allocated towards aiding impoverished Christians, perhaps complaints regarding pastors taking advantage of their congregations would decrease.

This sort of behavior is one reason why Christianity might be losing followers. People feel more confident donating their hard-earned money directly to charities or orphanages, where they can see tangible benefits, rather than handing it over to pastors who might use it to build personal residences or grow their churches.

Considering all this, what has Christianity truly accomplished? If tithing were eliminated, the faith could face challenges since some pursue pastoral roles for financial gain rather than genuine devotion to Jesus. As a result, we're seeing an increase in deceptive pastors performing fake miracles and falsely prophesying, just as Matthew 24:24 warns: "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Remember, Jesus disowns these individuals—they are not his true followers.

Peace!

It is not criminal

If it was criminal then those in civilized society that preach tithe

Do they go to jail?

Government around the world know what is crime and criminality

So you should first of all understand yourself

I pay tithe
It's my personal conviction from my personal understanding of scriptures

So it's not criminality in any way

Its my money
I am the one giving it

So how is it a crime?
