Faulty Gear Solenoid by AFONAMARO(op): 11:37am On Oct 07, 2024
Hello car gurus,

Please, I need your help.

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Recently, when you engage the gear on drive, it makes a startling noise (kpom). It has been scanned, it shows faulty gear solenoid E. And the gear man said they'll change the valve body to ensure everything works fine.

What's your professional advice? Will it work better after the change? Is it worth it to change it, or, I should work towards buying a new gear entirely?

I will suggest you save to buy a new gear box, repair don't work.

The solenoid is a component they're changing, they're not fixing the one in it, they're changing it entirely.

Solenoid is just like a se sor that has a screw
.if u are a DIY man like myself,go to an alignment shop, tell them to loose the gear pan/sump. U will see the solenoid,it might be dirty, filled of carbon and all, carefully disconnect the battery, loose the solenoid, wash it in diesel and kerosene, allow it dry for 30mins and fix it back.if problem still persists, just buy new gear.fixing valve body or replacing,is a waste of time.naija is a home of quacks
