That'snot the reference number...the reference number is the one after your phone number on that paper , Amentum reference number...coud starr with any Alphabet.

* Your question is incomplete (until i read the 221g slip), but i will generalise based on past experiences.

1. Digital fingerprint (especially at the embassies, port of entries , and borders ) rarely garbled b/cos, your fingerprint is being uploaded into the USA national database. Although, the consular who took your 1st- fingerprint (or did the consular forgot to ten-print you ?) might have made a mistake or the fingerprint - reader might have malfunctioned, but that happened around 5 out of 100 applicants.

2. Ipso facto, asking you in 221g to come for re-fingerprint is a distraction strategy. The USA embassy actually want to do some other background checks on your VISA application.

3. Nobody, can authoritatively predicts the (VISA) outcome of your 221g temporary refusal, b/cos, 221g reasons are innumerous ie, Identity confusion , verification of documents , etc, but the positive part is that, you have been able to put the USA embassy into confusion, and after verification, your VISA should be granted.

PS: In 221g IDENTITY verification . If a VISA applicant looks like or bear same name with a wanted criminal, and after verification, the VISA applicant is cleared, then, the USA embassy will still decide your VISA outcome based on if you satisfy the requirements or not Therefore, some 221g outcome might still resulted to permanent refusal, in which you are free to re-apply.

Hello, I'd like to clarify a few things from your response . I'm at the point of choosing a date for appointment for IW on the new site AVITS however the earliest date is in dec, I initially had seen October 3 but since I'm not currently in Lagos I didn't choose it. If I choose the earliest date now for 23rd of dec, can I still proceed to register on the OIS site and schedule an appointment for drop off? Also, is there any point where I still have to take documents to the embassy? Or it's straight to dropoff at Idowu taylor after scheduling an appointment on the OIS site. I'd just like a step by step of the actions after payment on the new website. Thank you

Yes it's a bit of problem, if you did not or have not received any acknowledgement email from the USA embassy, after registering on the new website, because, naturally " Qualification for interview waivers is assessed by the responses provided to questions during the appointment scheduling process, and at the end of the process " qualified applicants will receive an Interview Waiver Confirmation letter with detailed information on how to submit the application documents. This is probably where you missed the road, because it seems you have not received the IWCL ?

2. Anyways, according to the new directives, In order to be able to submit your application documents, you need to proceed with registering on :

www.oisservices.com/services website.

On that page, locate "US VISA APPLICATION DOCUMENTS PICK UP/DROP OFF" section, scroll down to the page and click on "Click Here" button.

Proceed with registering on the page and select your documents pick-up/drop off option."

PS: It seems you will have to pay a fee , if you did not have the IW confirmation letter from the embassy.

They want to be certain you're actually in the country and they probably have a few questions.

1. AVITS and OIS works in tandem, therefore, there is no time you schedule an appointment on AVITS that you won't be able to schedule on OIS. Even, if there is going to be such a time in the future, AVITS appointment, and IW qualification letter are still going to give you free access to drop-off at OIS.

2. In that respect, go ahead and book appointment on AVITS. Once AVITS has given you the pass mark (successful appointment and IW qualification letter) , then the next move is for you to visit OIS and book drop-off appointment. You do not have to take anything to the USA embassy yourself, that is the work of OIS. All you need to do is to go and drop your documents at OIS office and return home, and be watching your favourite television shows.

PS: IW VISA renewal applicant does not have anything to do with the USA embassy physically. But, if the USA embassy feels like seeing you physically, then they will notify you via email, avits or ois.

PS: Likewise. None IW VISA applicants does not have anything to do with OIS (until it is time to pick-up VISA). They only schedule physical appointment on their AVITS portal.

You just have to keep trying. I know that’s not what you’d like to hear right now but it’s the truth.

Even when you call them they’ll tell you the same thing. They claim there’s a glitch/technical difficulty on their end that they’re trying to fix.
So I’ll suggest maybe waking up early like around 1am -4am. Those times somehow the dates are bookable.

You just have to work around it at this point.

Pls how do I get to fill the DS 160 form in the new portal. I migrated from the old portal to the new one and when I checked the appointment print out I saw a DS 160 barcode on it. Does it mean the DS 160 has been submitted. If No how do retrieve it and fill a new one. Thank you

Are you trying to book an appointment through the group request?

I got a similar response when I did that.

Use the individual new appointment request. The instruction is to use this request for each person you want to schedule their application through your profile.

If you were using the individual appointment request but still getting that response, possibly your payment is yet to reflect. Wait a while and try later.

It is usually strange to ask adults to come in for finger print. They do it for teenagers. It is a pretty straightforward process if it is just for finger print. You line up and they just take your prints, no questions asked. Since you are an adult, just be prepared for anything. Keep your information straight.

I read in an old transcript that it has been advised not to mention to VOs that one's business involves importation or that a past travel history to another country was for the purpose of buying goods for business. I did not find this actual advise in prior Parts so I thought to ask if anyone can shed more light/ if this is a valid advise. i.e. not to mention that prior travel was for purchase of goods.

2. In the last part of the completing the DS-160. Is it detrimental in anyway to state the DS was filled by one self when it was done with the help of another person more conversant? and on the flip side, is it detrimental to confirm that the DS was filled with the assistance of another?

I would appreciate your advise.

1. It is a bunkum advice. Go back to the post and ask the original poster the following questions: * What happens to the importer of Apple (phones and laptops, wristwatches etc) products who bring in those goods from American companies genuinely? * What happens to the importer of USA manufactured or assembled autos/cars/trucks ie Ford and Chevrolet? * What happens to the CEO/owners of warehouses, who imports all the cookies and goody goody his or her kids buy every weekends at supermarkets, hypermarkets and shopping malls ? Did he or she mean all these category set of business persons will not receive a USA B1/B2 VISAS because they are importers?

2. I know a Visiting Professor of English (not exaggerating ) who later developed an eye defect, tell me how is he going to fill a DS- 160 himself ? There are lots of politicians, business men/women, millionaires , billionaires, celebrities etc who speak very good English language, but they will fail woefully in English writings . Although, there is no much grammar composition in the VISA form (Ds-160) , but these category set of individual will still feel uneasy in chosen the right questions and answers, while some may find longer noun " like extravaganza" difficult to recognise or interpret in paper or online forms.

3. USA consular officers loves honesty, just like majority of Americans are honest personalities, but some think they are fools. If someone have assisted you in filling the form , yes you can indicate that, it is an understandable situation. Some people are not able to sit in front of a computer for 1 hour cracking their brains on what to type. Some can assign their adult children to handle it. Some families have permanent VISA agents. The reasons /excuses for 3rd party handling your DS-160 on your behalf are many and it is not against the VISA rules.

1. Profile update is not available on AVITS as at this moment. If you have filled another DS-160 , just print the confirmation and take both old and new confirmation print-outs along on the day of your VISA appointment.

If you paid by card or your cash/ EFT (electronic funds transfer) and your payment is delayed longer than the appropriate mentioned processing time, please use the ''Create a ticket'' option in your scheduling account on usvisaappt.com to send us the payment confirmation and the screenshot of the error you encountered, alongside with a brief explanation of the error.

* Our support desk will process your inquiry and respond as soon as possible. Please do not make an additional payment as it will not be refunded.

* Do that 👆 and call them verbally again.

* It has not happened to me before , but it has happened to few people i know, but not in the way you have described it.

1. If you have written the Lagos consular at " LagosNIV@state.gov demanding your passport for unexpected or urgent travel, while your VISA application is pending additional processing, and your request is granted as having fulfilled the return criteria, what the embassy usually do is to "forward your passport to VISA information service (OIS/DHL) for dispatch within one to two business days, using the delivery option you have selected when the appointment was made.

** You will then be notified by email and text message when your passport is ready for delivery or pickup.

In your present scenario:

2. Your 221g or IW requires you to appear physically for some questionnaire, which is an hopeful situation, but if you insist on having your passport back, then, the embassy would not have a choice, than to engage their policy as described in sense -1 above, and have your passport returned.

PS: If you are a wanted criminal , or your name match that of a wanted person, or you have impersonated the US government or official etc, in your current VISA application, then, the USA embassy will not return your passport.

I had this problem too!

#1. Create a ticket stating your complain
#2. Attach a copy of your invoice and the receipt of payment to this case
#3. Submit

Give it a few days to be resolved. pele o!

1. I did not state that you belong to any. It was a sample reference, indicating 221g scenarios. Well, you never can't tell because the USA embassy will not tell you if you happen to answer same name with a wanted criminal or terrorist. Nobody is clean, once put on 221g - administrative process , aka background checks.
