Let's wait for a certain group of people to come and defend it. |

It is amusing that APC folks who used to be at the vanguard of free, fair, credible elections and were even radical about it pre-2015 are now sniffing all over the world looking for "what abouts" to justify the shameless rigging enterprise that their party has become. It shows how far they have fallen from the ideals that heralded them into office both in politics and governance. Just like anti-subsidy removal, election integrity is now an irritating idea that begets petulant reaction from APC folks. Just for clarification, US federal laws strictly prohibits paying anyone to vote or even register to vote. It is a grand felony in US laws that attracts considerable jail time. That said, Elon Musk is paying people to get voters to sign a petition in support of first and second amendments, which are primarily right to bear arms and freedom of speech. The reason is well known. Musk is pro-free speech and that influenced his decision to buy twitter which had become a basket of leftist propaganda stifling alternative views. While it can be argued that it is inappropriate to be canvassing for such political views in an election period which may indirectly push voters to vote in a certain way, it is important to clarify that signing the petition before 21st October is no guarantee that any of the signers will vote or even vote republican. What is important is that the voters are being asked to sign up on issues not for parties which is what voters sign for in an election. So for APC folks to now equate it to the disgraceful act carried out by their party in Nigeria, where voters are induced to vote for their party for as little as N500 or even just bread in some cases is downright silly and shows a desperation on their part to normalise this evil behaviour which is weaponising the debilitating poverty their evil party has thrown the larger majority of Nigerians into. But is anyone surprised? APC has always been a coven of evil and justifying evil deeds in the name of political sophistication is second nature to them. |

Kukutenla:Apc is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria's 4th republic. The impunity, heartlessness and incompetence cannot be matched in any other democracy in the last 10 years. They have bastardised, rubbished and destroyed almost all semblance of what good governance is about. Everything they criticised the pdp for, they have done 1000 times worse and are even arrogant in thier deceit and failure. Even the very few politicians who used to have a little fear of the masses have been corrupted by BAT and the apc. It is just mindboggling seeing otherwise intelligent, sane and rational people talking and acting studp1d in a bid to support apc and bat. People who are struggling to survive. People who have lost thier livelihoods. People who have lost properties, justifying the hardship. The bigger irony is that the few who actually benefit from the corruption are investing abroad, moving thier families and are ready to jet out of the country at a moment's notice. |

ivandragon:spot on my brother! This just shows that APC is primarily the party that does vote buying and benefit from it. Other parties are just catching up. It is just like saying Dangote offering to pay every nigerian who gets a Nigerian voter to sign a petition to fully deregulate fuel price is buying votes. As in, how ridiculous can this people be? |

abc115:It isn't vote buying because nothing of that post mandates that those referred shall be required to vote or not vote a certain way. Read what the law says of it. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/597 |
