The Dark Tower is due for adaptation? Great!! They better not mess it up like they have done with Salem's Lot, which indeed is one of the scariest King novels and I am truly amazed at the negative reviews it has been receiving.
I still can't believe they haven't rebooted Needful Things, it's the first big I've ever reread more than 6 times as a teenager- one of my best books

Moulin Rouge!......6.5/10

It's a tragic love story about a poetry writer falling in love with a highly sought after courtesan.

This is definitely one of the loudest and chaotically filmed, edited and sound mixing or scoring I've ever seen in an opening 30 mins for a movie.
All Baz Luhrmann movies are so chaotic it's head-aching: The Great Gatsby is the worst. I couldn't understand the movie at all because of all the unnecessary camera movements and chaotic dialogue. Only Elvis was slowed down

Naaaa, fukkkk all this peace shíte . If you actually read my post and you failed to understand. Fk U and your thinking faculty.
More likely that you're the one failing at understanding but your thinking faculty, though I doubt it exists, lacks the range to consider that perspective.

Also, if you're going to lead with "fukk all this peace shite", follow up with some actual smoke. The above post doesn't even amount to vapour

The Rumbling and My War from season 4 of Attack on Titan are both better than Red Swan.

Red Swan is controversial in the AOT fandom. Many consider it somewhere at the bottom of the list of AOT openings

How then can it be one of the best AOT openings?
Unless it's solely based on your taste and not acclaim

Imo Naruto should have at least 4 openings among the best of anime. Bleach should have 1 or 2

Oddity......8/10

Really good horror flick. Top tier writing and storytelling.
People say it's probably the scariest horror flick of the year, but I didn't see that. Just got the adequate doom and gloom and pristine suspense right from the start. Good jumpscares here and there.
Solid plot without an over reliance on the supernatural to explain away plot points. Instead, the supernatural themes perfectly complements and adds a sense of mystery to a well grounded storyline.

The strength lies in the acting, eerie atmosphere and chilling score.
Good return to form for the horror genre. Got the basics right without relying on over-the-top jump scares and overly loud sound effects.

Time to check Longlegs for another "scariest" title of 2024.
The simplicity was the charm. It was extremely well done..no dilly dally....just straight to the business of the day 👍🏾. This and "Exhuma" (2024)" are probably my best horror flick from this year.

The horror genre had quite a run this year, each month for like the last 3 or 4 months or so, has had a major horror release.

And back to "Oddity", Them Irish really do know how to make movies and shows, so if you see any Irish production, don't think, don't fuss, just pick it up and watch ✌🏾
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 7:29pm On Oct 07, 2024
Wait o. Horror flicks constitute about 70% of the total films i have logged this year 💀😅. I am not even joking, the genre totally ate this year and left no crumbs. I need to see "The Substance" to complete this list, shame it ain't playing around me, and with "Slow Mubi" handling the distribution, it might not arrived on VOD till next year 😩

It was darn too good. Didn't know it was Irish produced.
Exhuma is also amongst my horror list.

This is probably the best year ever for horror genre in a long time. And has good variety too.

Have you watched "The Watchers"? How's it like?

Man I was confused like wtf was I watching cos the shït took me by surprised and I didn't even know it was a musical. It didn't rhyme at all. If not for Nicole Kidman I'd have abandoned and deleted the film without realising it's actually good.

That man head dey gbana sha.
Omo, and I've already added The Great Gatsby to my watchlist. 😳

That wasn't an original irish production lol. It was WB and was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan's young daughter, so it reeked of nepotism, and it was even a problem during the film's promotional presser, as people where so sure she was never gonna get in that directors chair, if not for the calibre of her dad in the industry.

Anyways, the movie it's self is just there, good build up and all but fails to properly capitalize on it. It is nothing close to how good the book was.

Yes, I know about that.
I'm just curious cos it seems to be a folk horror tale. Prolly Irish I think. I'm wondering how good it was.

Hijack 1971 … 3/10
True life based event was the only reason I finished it

A teenager with a pen knife hijacking an entire Airplane filled with Adult men …

There were million of opportunities to grab that boy and deal with him but everyone was shivering at the sight of a knife way before the boy later found a gun …

The most annoying part was when the older cop grabbed the teenager and asked one of the other young men to help him restrain the teenager but the other man wife said he shouldn’t go ….

When the pilot performed this aerial stunt at the border of North Korea that knocked the boy out for some minutes I was like so you actually know how to fly a plane …. And the boy was left to wake up and continue his hijack …

It Ends With Us:

Its a slow burn, but that is life. Life is not the action packed, fast paced make believe we see on screen.

It is a well written story that had me cringing in some parts and smiling in others. Great movie.

I've been hearing much talk about The Substance but I'm still undecided about it.

I remember spending a whole day glued to the book. I couldn't tear my eyes away. I had just finished Tommyknockers (it's a bird, no it's a plane... Oh wait, it's super cunt 😂😂😂) so I was in a Stephen King binge.

Gosh, I miss those days 🥺

I don't think Todd Phillips will have a job anymore for a high budget big studio project in the near future. The man has burnt bridges and is a living cautionary tale as to why studios supervises Directors.

There's some people you don't just give full creative control to. This is a big example of what can go wrong when Studios don't "interfere". A reminder to fans of IPs why at times its good for studio execs to bútt in at some point or have an executive central figure giving general directions to a franchise.

Its like he hates the project. And decided to shït in it. First major shït that the new WB heads will have to deal with that comes directly from them.

At least I'm glad DC Studios and James Gunn is not a part of this project. We're having a good start to life to the future with DC Studios first production in THE PENGUIN tv series.

Immaculate.......5.5/10

It has an interesting idea but never truly commits to what it wants to be — A Catholic supernatural or a gory fest. It just pulls its punches trying to be in between and in the way loses its balance. Its use of jumpscares just seem more or less performative to remind you its a horror tale.

This just seems to be a little like Benedetta without fully committing to its R rating and background themes. Its a promising premise but blandly executed with surface level storytelling.
Little to no suspense. Never fully immerses itself on a particular theme yet fails to deliver on it.

This is probably the most underwhelming Catholic supernatural tale I've come across. A subgenre I'm so enamoured with and easy to give favourable scores.

Sydney Sweeney is just used here to promote this film. Which she produced by the way.

Todd Philips know pass himself. He has dug his own grave. Which studio will hire him after seeing that he is proud of his flop?
