openmine:Are opposition in majority? Majority are APGA members who will be bribed to assent to the bill of course. By time governor takes allocation meant for Onitsha LGA to focus on his own local government and Onitsha has less resources to cater for their more populated LGA body go tell the locals. Misappropriation of funds A whole prof should know beta |

He has carried that criminal tendency of past CBN governors to Anambra State House. That bill is indirectly trying to legitimize the actions of governors in the past: carving out a large percentage of LGA funds for unauthorized use. It should not be allowed to stand. |

They should go back to the court and challenge that useless bill. State governments should have no control whatsoever over the local government or how their money is shared. It's like a governor in the US trying to usurp the powers of Mayors. There is complete separation of powers. Our governors are very crooked. |

This is very wicked! The state is even the one to determine what percentage is to be deducted. That means the state may just decide to deduct 90% and leave LGA with 10. It should even be within 2days while them governors owe workers salaries for months. These guys are selfish and wicked. That bill must not see the light of the day! |

Why joint account? Will the state still share the money back with local governments because the money would be leaving local governments’ coffer, initially, to the state. Why not let each local government spend its money the way it feels ok in developing grassroots? The money coming from FG is not like an Excess Crude Sales Account where the FG has the right to receive and then share among states. This is local governments’ money! No need returning it to state joint account. Truly, to know how good or bad someone is, let such fellow join Nigerian politics and win an election. Soludo is a fa!lure. |

Afonja44:You lots are a huge joke. you are just childish spectators who watch from the sideline and pray for Nigeria to always fail. what d you all even want in life? corruption will always fight back, that is what we are seeing here. Ezewuzie01:Genius in corruption. these men are plain evil. I commend Tinubu and Wike on this giant stride of LG autonomy. I remember in those days when LG use to do projects, street roads and all that, but now these useless governors have destroyed all that with their greed. Kudo to Wike and Tinubu for this great achievement and some miscreant Nigerians are trying to destroy this great achievement i am not surprised because definitely corruption must fight back. |

correctyourself:The federal govt is also doing the same thing by giving states with natural resources just 13% out of 100% of their total proceeds of their exploited resources the remaining 87% is used to develop other parts of nigeria that doesn't even have any resources. To stop all these by laws to by state governors let the federal govt just agree to resource control so that every state can develop at their own pace. |

Emmanuel900:If you people don't involve Obi in the maladministration of this country, you guys wouldn't be comfortable. If they ask you why Obi didn't conduct the said local government election, I am cog sure you will be dumbfounded as usual. The reason he didn't conduct the said election is the same reason that is playing out in Rivers State today. The opposition took him to court and the court restrained him not to conduct the election and he stayed till the court case was lifted. If Fubara had erroneously obeyed that kangaroo FHC order and the election is stopped and delayed for years, same you people will be abusing Fubara tomorrow that he didn't conduct local government election but won't say that he was handicapped by the court order shopped by his transducers. You people should continue making mess of yourself than facing the reality on ground. The person that made law is different but you just find way to import Peter Obi into it mischievously. Did Obi kill any one around you that all irrelevant and uncorrelated issue must be pointed to him unjustly? It was the same you people that were hailing same Soludo when he was lambasting Peter Obi and many of your kind saying he is the best man for president in the south east, instead of Peter Obi. Today the lyrics has changed because he went against Tinubu's judgement. Meanwhile, I can tell you if the law has to followed critically without tinkering on the constitution, he would win the case because there is no where in the constitution wherein the constitution says local government allocation should be sent directly to local government account. It is just a pronouncement from the supreme and not traceable to any known law of the land. I have said it, that going through the back door to make law, may not work because we are a constitutional country and not banana Republic. Instead of them to tinker with the constitution and let such section be included through the National Assembly, they went through the court looking for what is not lost. Until such clause is included in the constitution, we will continue to have serious issue about this local government autonomy. We will continue hearing different issues from the state government to undermine the intent of the supreme court pronouncement. On the issue of regional government. I think you're mischievous if I may say. If there is any region that wish to break away and have their region to themselves, it's south east region. For you to maliciously say they would go against it, it just shows your intent against the south east people. I am cog sure they would be the first to embrace regional government or total break away from other regions. All I could conclude from your comment is, your comment is full of bile towards the south east people and nothing more. |

fxexperts:You know the problem of this country? We like doing things anticlockwise. The FG is the architect of this problem. Instead of FG to sponsor a bill to tinker with the constitution as to reflect that the allocation of the local government council should be sent to the council's account, the supreme court just made a pronouncement that is not back up with any known law of the land. There's no where in the constitution wherein it stated that council allocation should be sent to its account. No where. With the influence that Tinubu has on the national assembly and the state, I don't think he should have gone that back door route and not go through the national assembly for it insertion into the law and assented to with probably stringent clause attached. What we suppose to do first, we always do it last in this country and my concern is the people that suppose to talk would not talk. Few people that raised concern about that supreme court judgement were lambasted, whereas they were the one that sees beyond the immediate. Meanwhile, there is no corruption that is fighting back but the lacuna created by the same government of going through back door. |

Kosiso12:It's a good thing coming from a former CBN and the governor of Anambra State. Now let's see how those who claim they are a marginalized tribe would react to this since they have been looking for liberalization? Let's see if they would go to court as the governor has spoken... Let's see if they have the guts to go to court. |

Supreme court if final and 3 teirs have been made independent. He should be creative to generate more fund within the state. |
