Borrow222:That guy you quoted na idiot normally . One of the demons we have on human form. Anytime he hears subsidy or fuel price increase, he comes out from hell and starts talking rubbish. Emilokan did not cancel subsidy. He just changed the beneficiaries to a new one. |

cucumbar:You have been dreaming about the tree spirits again? Take two spoons of honey under the light of a half moon, and walk twenty steps holding a white pigeon over your head, then take a feather from the pigeon and put it under your pillow, then plant a seed of maize in your backyard...in the middle of it, at the sunrise, and water it with honey water, and you should soon start dreaming normally The side effect is that you may attract the Skikatuge manari. TO PREVENT that, take two spoons of salt, one spoon of milo, five spoons of gari, two spoons of acha, ten spoons of orijin, twelve spoons of pepper, five spoons of bile from the gall bladder of a chicken, and ten spoons of rice, mix them together, and boil and then feed the mixture to a three year old child, and you will be ok. |

nairalanda1:Why are you so confident that even if we were under Obi, that things would be the same as they are now? This is a fallacy of false equivalent. Different roads lead to the market, but what if you used an untarred road to get to the market, do you think your experience would different if you had used a tarred road? Let's say that your are undertaking a journey with your family, and in preparation you've carefully worked our the route you'll ply- taking into account rest stops along the way, detours etc, and then something happens last minute that makes you no longer able to go on that journey, so you call your neighbor to drive your family in your place. Now tell me, will your family's experience of the journey under your brother, be the same if it were you driving them? Sure, the goal was to remove subsidy and make Nigeria independent from imported oil products, but then the question becomes - what approach was used? were the necessary measures put in place to atleast soften the effects? Obi came with detailed planned showing hard facts and figures, and Nigeria voted in somebody that asked if na statistics we go chop? Go figure. This government shocked the people that had high expectations, but the people that are more shocked were the one's that had very low expectations. It's like the country hit rock bottom and at this rate if we go any lower, Satan will sue us for invading his space. |

Bwilliam:Because in may 2023, 90% of our revenue was being eaten by debt, and we had very little money in the forex reserves. Yes we did, despite tinubu and apc govt being in denial. At the end, good polices take time...meanwhile there was no money in the kitty. amd we have a large population that needs money NOW, and IMF was looking at us one kind. There is a reason why Obi and atiku both joined tinubu to say subsidy must go...they had their people in the economic sector, and they were not being fed good news. If the NIgerian guardian was reporting as early as August 2022 that debt service was eating 90% of our revenue, and even as far back as 2021, EL Midgeto was weeping in private over dimimisning returns, plus Buhari signs a law....saying tht subsidy would be paid till 2023 june...those were the warning signs. Most of you did not see them or refused to see the, Obi keeping fuel below cost price as some of you said he would do...would have just made things worse. ALl in all, tinubu was hit by KARMA...he should have shut up in 2012, him and buhari and occupy Nigeria. |

nairalanda1:you have some valid point here, but don't you think that if they can stop their penchant for looting our lean resources and cut down on their luxurious lifestyles of governance, they could have enough pool of resources to embark on any major policy, such as fuel subsidy removal ? but unfortunately these present leaders of Nigeria, don't want to sacrifice any of their famous comforts for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians, thereby making survival more difficult for the vulnerable citizens of Nigeria. Our leaders are wicked, why still looting our resources when they know how precarious the Nigeria economy have become ? |

cucumbar:My good fellow, your condtion is more serious than I thought. I was wrong, you must be dreaming about the spirtis of the goats on the 100th astral plane. You must cure yourself by drinking a bottle of vinegar at 12 noon tomorrow...and then eating some garri mixed with seven up at night, and then walking 200 steps backward in the middle of the night, and then drinking schnapps mixed with ant juice...and termite eggs, next morning. But beware, it may attract the calatuku. To get rid of that, you must drink bile juice of an antelope for fifteen days straight, and then after which you must recite the book of Wati Mati seven times at exactly 3.25 pm for five days |

: nairalanda1:Why do you even believe those over bloated figures they reel out as subsidy amount? Do you even know the actual quantity of fuel imported and consumed in Nigeria? Remove the fictitious figures added in quantity they claim to import daily, tighten the boarder against smugglers, control crude oil theft and increase daily production and you will understand that the subsidy figures are over estimated Stop illegal mining of our precious minerals resources, control insecurity, increase investment in farming and production ventures and see this country come to a progressive path. OBI no go Spend billions on House renovations Medical tourism abroad Unnecessary large entourage abroad First lady office Presidential jets and yacht Frivolous spending in the villa and by government He won't appoint disaster as CBN Governor |
| Re: ‘How Do We Survive?’ - Nigerians Lament Fresh Fuel Price Hike by nairalanda1(m): 6:30am On Oct 10, 2024 |
Atuero:Even then, it still costs a lot to subsidise fuel The thing is, assuming you want fuel at 200 naira per liter now, that means you will spend N800 per liter to subsidise every liter Multiply 800 by about 60 million liters by 365 ...you get something like 18 trillion, in a year That would chop a lot of budget. The thing is, we should cut a lot of wasteful spending, and I agree with you, but at the end of the day, it may not yield up to two months worth of subsidy, and recovering looted money is not a one day thing....it takes years. So, here we are. |

nairalanda1:Who and who consumed 60milliins daily? Improve electricity and see fuel consumption nosedive, a good CBN Governor can control exchange rate to a reasonable level by putting in place the right modalities and policies It's clear your reasoning is below par. |
